Continuing our theme for May of common sports injuries, today's Friday Stretch is all about pulled muscles - is it a strain or a sprain? A common injury in sports people, gardeners or any of us is the lower back. Sudden pain, spasms or a decreased range of motion could all be symptoms of a sprain or strain. Help to work out that pain (and prevent injury by keeping your muscles strong) with some exercises and stretches: Standing pelvic tilts (great for releasing lower back pain!) 1. Stand facing forwards, feet hip distance apart, with knees slightly bent and your arms relaxed down to your sides. 2. Slowly rotate your lower back outwards, sticking your bottom out behind you but keeping your head up. 3. Then pull your lower back forwards, tucking your tail bone under you. 4.
