We had an incredible experience at the RILx24 conference, organised by Response Innovation Lab and Nepal Innovation Lab, with generous support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, World Vision, and Elrha. It was a great opportunity to showcase our work as designers and engineers, presenting our innovative solution to address the global challenge of plastic waste management. We also engaged in many thought-provoking conversations and are excited about the potential collaborations that could emerge to help address the ongoing challenges in the humanitarian aid sector. We’re excited for the future projects that await!

Can plastic be replaced with mushrooms and hemp? 🍄 🌿 The Ukrainian company S.Lab has created a replacement for polystyrene by combining just two plant components — mushroom mycelium and industrial hemp. Only these two elements turned into a material that replicates the functions of plastic packaging and breaks down in less than 45 days ♻ 🌏 The product appeared to be so relevant for the market that S.Lab has no shortage of customers. 🏆 Moreover, the company was named the Startup of the Year in Ukraine in 2023 and ranked in the top 10 at the WEB Summit among 3,000 applicants. — How did a trip to Asia motivate Julia Bialetska and Eugene Tomilin to launch S.Lab? — Why did the company refuse to take new orders? — How is S.Lab going to change the packaging market in Europe and Asia? 👉 Read more about S.Lab via the link - https://bit.ly/3UHCCd9 🥇 👏 The story of S.Lab is a part of the series "The Cream of the Crop of Ukrainian Cleantech". It features 10 cleantech champions who received Climate Innovation Vouchers at a critical stage of their development and made giant leaps in the following years. Read the new stories on the Greencubator web pages. But be careful! Nothing inspires you to start a new business more than the success stories of those who have succeeded! 💙 🍰 🧡 📌 About the programme: Climate Innovation Vouchers is one of the largest grant programmes in Ukraine for innovators in green and climate-friendly technologies. It is initiated by the EBRD - European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and funded by the European Union. Greencubator implements the programme in Ukraine. #greencubator #CIV #EBRD #EU #climate_innovation_vouchers #Ukraine #startups

When we need to creat high temperatures and high pressure we come beyond sustainable process and indeed often we defeat the purpose . The total sustainability comes with going back to nature , often luxury breaks the sustainability process .

Polluters poured nearly 200 million pounds of toxic substances into U.S. waterways in 2020. But a half-century later, the job of cleaning up America’s waterways remains half-done. According to data from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Toxics Release Inventory (TRI), industrial facilities released at least 193.6 million pounds of toxic substances into U.S. waterways in 2020, including chemicals known to cause cancer, reproductive problems and developmental issues in children. These high volumes stand in stark contrast to the Clean Water Act’s stated objective of eliminating direct discharges of pollution by 1985. Another example of aquatic pollution is with acid rain, which is the result of certain chemicals. In particular, acid rain is the result of nitrogen oxides and sulfur dioxide forming to make mild acidic compounds. Acid rain is responsible for leaching the soils toxic aluminum. Surfactant detergents are extremely toxic. These types of detergents are used to bolster the foaming, wetting, emulsifying, and dispersing properties of detergents. When there are high levels of phosphates in the water fish can die, suggesting that phosphates are highly toxic and lethal to fish. Phosphates act as fertilisers causing plants to grow rapidly depleting the water of oxygen. When we think of water pollution, we often visualise leaking oil tankers and toxic waste escaping into our rivers and oceans although pollution also stems from the personal use of everyday products.
