Earlier this week there was a full on Father Christmas takeover of the museum as we hosted the annual Ministry Of Fun Santa School! Among many important skills, the Santa's in training learnt the art of the perfect Ho Ho Ho and even some festive sign language to ensure all children feel included. And of course, the importance of letter writing and sorting the Christmas post was included on the curriculum. Thank you to the Ministry Of Fun team and Milk & Honey PR | Certified B Corp for ensuring everything ran smoothly on the day. It was a pleasure to host the 26th edition of Santa School, which led to same great media coverage, including featuring in The Guardian's 'Photo of the Day'. This editorial #freeaccess# provides an overview of the special issue commemorating 75 years of Public Administration and Development. It reflects on the journal's history, its role in connecting public administration with development studies, and its focus on topics such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), gender equality, indigenous approaches to public administration, and the evolution of development studies. In this special issue, we—the editors—also present a piece that traces the journal's evolution over the past 75 years, highlighting shifts in research themes and proposing future directions for the field. https://lnkd.in/gRtkUj7q #PublicAdministration #DevelopmentStudies #SDGs #GenderEquality #IndigenousApproaches

Learn more about how the Ezra Jack Keats Foundation has helped our students.
The Ezra Jack Keats Foundation has a mission to bring the multicultural, creative spirit of Keats into children’s lives and literature. They do this by supporting arts and literacy programs in public schools and libraries; celebrating new writers and illustrators of exceptional picture books for a diverse audience of children; and preserving Keats’s work and extending his legacy. Several of our teachers have been awarded grants from the Ezra Jack Keats Foundation to do projects with our students. The art teacher at the School for the Blind, Liz List, received one such grant a few years ago. She was able to purchase supplies for the students to create tactile books using different materials. The students then wrote a story to go in the book. We have very talented students! Pictured here are two of the projects done by the School for the Blind students. The top left picture has a treble clef with musical notes. The bottom right shows a guitar on one side of the open book and the story on the other. The words read “I started playing my guitar, but it didn’t make any sound. The strings were broken. I went to get some sticks. I put them on the guitar. It tried to strum them. It still did not make any sound.” #scsdb #engageempowerequip #daysofgiving #demisemideptcentennial #day72

During the hieight of the pandemic and a crazy election season, my work challenged all of us to do a “random act of kindness” just to combat all the negativity. This actually changed my life!!! I did two things: 1. Sent flowers to a coworker who was amazing 💐2. Gifted a bunch of new books to a local 3rd grade classroom. 📚 I basically just never stopped doing the 2nd one!! Lift Literaure started because of that first book donation. I learned how many children are not meeting critical reading milestones in elementary school and how that affects their ENTIRE lives. I learned about “book deserts” and “low print homes” and how important it is to get books to high need families. How something this small can make a BIG difference. This week, we worked on refreshing many of the nonfiction early reader books in local schools that are 30+ years old! Think animals, art, sports, etc. Think replacing Mia Hamm books with Simone Biles. It’s been a while… We’ve gifted thousands of amazing books to local schools and students!!! You never know what an impact a random act of kindness can have!
🌟We kicked off the school year with an exciting meeting alongside our dedicated librarians and Lift Literature! 🌟 📚✨ Together, we coordinated a group order for nonfiction books covering animals, states, California missions, Native American history, sports, and countries. A huge shoutout to Rosen Publishing for their fantastic presentation and to @TahoeWomensCommunityFund for their invaluable support! 🌟 With this collaborative effort, we’re all set to enrich our school libraries and inspire young minds! 📕

The November Living By Design Challenge‼️ 📍Day 6: Chapter 6: Self - Awareness "The conversations that happen internally originating from our socialisation generally do not have issues of purpose. We are somehow wired in a way that makes it difficult to discover our purposes. However, we have to start by looking at a blind spot that is within us that might be stopping us from discovering our purposes. A blind spot is a subject about which you are ignorant or prejudiced and fail to exercise good judgment. We need, therefore, to look at this place from which our actions, communication, and perceptions arise and allow us to sense and connect with our purposes. If that’s not the case, we will disconnect and miss out on everything consistent with living by design and propagate the reproduction of dysfunctional systems in our families, churches, political movements, societies, or organisations." ✨More about the blindspot and how we can be aware of what is happening in this blindspot to increase our self-awareness is explained in detail in this 16-page chapter. ✨ 📞 CALL NOW to get a copy of Living By Design: Insights into the Purpose Driven Life Today to know what is happening inside you that you can not see. +263 77 330 1267 +263 71 210 6415 https://lnkd.in/dk3QxkYk

Representation is critical in children's literature! This allows children to see themselves and their communities in what they read, reminding them that they are valued. Representation and diversity encourages curiosity, and creates awareness. All in all, fostering a love of reading, building vocabulary, increasing confidence, and so much more! Tune in with myself, Miriam Moore-Keish, and our three guest authors to discuss the impact made 👉 bit.ly/49L2g5D
