Compassion in Care 🧡: Why It Matters The healthcare industry is more than just delivering medical services. It's about making real human connections. Compassion is the cornerstone of our mission at Newton Healthcare, and, frankly, it's what sets us apart. Why does compassion matter so much in care work? For starters, it creates trust. Patients and residents feel safer and more understood when they sense that their caregivers truly care. This is crucial, especially in sectors like elderly care and mental health, where vulnerability is high. A recent NHS study found that compassionate care significantly improved patient outcomes and satisfaction rates (NHS, 2023). But compassion isn't just about being nice. It's about putting in the effort to understand specific needs and challenges. Our team at Newton Healthcare is committed to inclusion, always treating every worker and client with the same friendly, respectful approach. This dedication is why we're trusted to supply healthcare professionals across various sectors. What do you think makes compassion so vital in healthcare? Let's get a conversation going in the comments below. Engaging directly through your thoughts helps us improve and better serve our communities. www.newtonhealthcare.com #Healthcare #Compassion #CareIndustry

Low health literacy is associated with more hospitalizations, greater use of emergency care, and higher mortality. Greg O'Neill, MSN, APRN, AGCNS-BC, NPD-BC, NEA-BC, ChristianaCare's Patient and Family Health Education Director, and Himani Divatia, DO, ChristianaCare's Associate Designated Institutional Official, join this episode to discuss the critical need for clear communication in healthcare, share examples of the Teach-Back method of understanding health instructions, and offer advice on how to better receive health information yourself. FDB is pleased to support healthcare organizations like ChristianaCare in their initiatives to improve health literacy and understanding of medication instructions among patients and their families through our Meducation solution. Meducation helps healthcare organizations improve patients’ adherence with medication regimens and enhances patient outcomes by supplying clinicians with personalized, easy to understand, medication education materials that they can share with patients and family members directly from the EHR. These tools help providers facilitate discussions with patients about how to take their medications and aid post-discharge recall. https://bit.ly/45SLDUd Listen now to this informative episode: https://apple.co/4hcuj2r | #HealthLiteracyMonth #HealthLiteracy #MedSafety #Meducation

Today is National Healthcare Decision Day, which is held annually on April 16th. Do you know that there are times when you may need to make some healthcare decisions but not be able to? This day is designed to help you prepare for those times ahead of time. It’s a day when patients or healthcare receivers tell health professionals what kind of care they want to receive. Healthcare includes the maintenance or enhancement of health by preventing, diagnosing, treating, recovering, or curing illness, injury, or other physical and mental impairment. It’s provided by health professionals and the allied health field. Across the nation, healthcare facilities host National Health Decisions Day as the flagship venue for public engagement. The day is made up of independent events hosted across the country, with support from national media and a public education campaign. Founded in 2008 by Virginia healthcare lawyer Nathan Kottkamp, the goal is to make healthcare decision-making easier, faster, and more transparent for both the public and healthcare providers/facilities by providing simple, free, uniform tools that guide the process.

🤔“What big idea would you recommend that would make St. Louis a national leader in primary care?” At its Community Connections forum in June, MHI asked local health care clinicians, purchasers, and executives what they believe needs to happen for primary care to flourish in St. Louis, and six recurring themes came to light across dozens of responses. - Implement team-based care - Payment reform to value quality over quantity - Invest in primary care as much or more than specialty care - Engage with the community to address SDOH - Support primary care practices (improve patient experience & decrease burnout) - Increase attraction of primary care to students These themes are not inherently bold or novel ideas, but instead represent what has long been known to be necessary for supporting primary care and lowering health care spending. Why haven’t they happened? MHI convenes its second Community Connections on December 4th. Learn more and join the conversation to advance primary care in St. Louis at: https://lnkd.in/gJUzWMZg

BMHC Board President, The Honorable Dr. Larry Wallace, Jr., Ph.D., co-authored a health-equity-focused article with Dr. Norman Chenven, MD., of Austin Regional Clinic, and David Stein, CEO of Babson Diagnostics, called "Three Guys Walk into a Conference And...", in the July 2024 Edition of the Austin Medical Times Magazine. What is unique about this collaborative piece is how it was born. Three guys, who come from very different places—a medical group, community care coordination, and a diagnostics company—met as they all sat on a panel at the 2023 Healthier Texas Summit hosted by It's Time Texas in collaboration with the University of Texas System. However, they all had one question in common and that is: "How do we remove barriers, make access to care easier, and reduce any fear and anxiety related to getting medical help?" They all acknowledged statistics show the health equity gap appears to be more acute in Texas than in many other states. According to their article, our state recently ranked poorly across 24 healthcare metric determinants spanning across four categories: access, outcomes, cost, and quality of care. They also agreed the challenge of improving care is big and complex, but the place to start is with preventative care.
