NREL scientists have developed PECAN resin for manufacturing wind turbine blades, which can be recycled using a mild chemical process, according to their research report. This innovation marks a significant step toward enhancing the sustainability of the wind turbine industry. Typically, wind turbine blades, after a 20-year lifespan, are shredded and disposed of in landfills or used as concrete filler.
