Well done Maheshwer Peri 👏👏 It's commendable to see someone taking such a principled stance on the growing commercialization of awards. The message highlights a very relevant issue in today's world, where recognition through accolades has increasingly become a transaction rather than a true mark of merit. When awards are bought rather than earned, it undermines the authenticity of those who truly deserve it, creating a culture where perceived success is driven by financial means rather than achievements. This is especially evident in many of the "30 under 30" and "40 under 40" lists, which often prioritize those who can afford to buy their way into recognition. By rejecting such awards and focusing on ethical recognition, you're sending a strong message that real success is earned, not purchased. It’s important that we hold on to the sanctity of true merit, and encourage others to value authenticity over superficial titles. Your decision to walk away from such opportunities speaks volumes about your values and commitment to integrity. It sets an important example in a world that increasingly rewards appearances over substance.
I am 'humbled' and 'honored' not to have received any awards. A few years back, when my favorite international magazine 'Red Herring' wished to 'award' me, I wrote this...

When I first started in the Industry, speaking on stage was about credibility and content to deliver. Nowadays, it's all paid but these stage topics' popularity has decreased too. I guess everyone is looking for the right business model. Yet, it shouldn't be at the cost of poor content or such only purposed to sell. We used to be way more creative 😁 Which are the conferences you are going to after the summertime? #clinicaltrials #clinicalresearch #conferences
One of our industry's dirty secrets: the vast majority of awards, PR pieces and on-stage appearances are pay to play. Getting nominated usually means coughing up the dough to participate. I don't think it's much different in other industries by the way, and not necessarily bad, but more transparency on those things would be better.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives have been pivotal in fostering workplace equality and nurturing environments where everyone feels valued since the 1960s. Leading companies have reaped the rewards of DEI, experiencing diverse leadership and enhanced innovation. Yet, amid fears of change and misconceptions spurred by political and social climates, a concerning backlash threatens the future of DEI, putting at risk over 60 years of progress. Without DEI, organizations risk innovation stagnation and exacerbated workplace inequalities. The call to action is clear: we must embed the value of an inclusive DEI strategy within an organization's core values, people practices, and operational processes. Leadership and accountability play key roles. It falls on each of us to resolutely defend against any regression in these hard-won advancements. Our collective actions will determine whether we move forward or step back. Don't miss our thought-provoking panel discussion on the evolving DEI landscape scheduled for Friday, June 28, 2024, at 12:00 PM EDT. Engage with our distinguished experts, led by Khalid Asad, MS, PCC, Author, CEO (PPI), as they delve into the successes, hurdles, and the rising resistance surrounding DEI. I threw away all of my awards. Not because they weren’t important to me. Not because they didn’t matter. Not because I didn’t appreciate them. Rather, three years ago, I threw away all my awards to remove the daily temptation to hustle for my worth. They were physical reminders of how often society measures our value based on achievements and accolades. Please know that I’m neither advocating for everyone to throw away their awards nor saying that we should stop giving/accepting awards to people. In fact, awards are a beautiful way to honor someone for their impact, sacrifice, love, innovation. They also shine the light on people who have been the first, the trailblazer, the hero. They inspire people. My point in sharing why I threw away my awards is to encourage you to reconsider how you measure the value of your life. When it’s time for you to leave this earth… your life won’t be measured by the awards sitting on your shelf, money in your bank account, titles on your resume, etc., but by the people whose lives you touched. So, celebrate what you've achieved, but never forget that you are worth more than plastic, glass, wood, metal, or other material could ever measure. #purposedrivenlive #purposedrivenleadership #liveinspired #rejecthustleculture #personalgrowth #coaching

Judge William Webster, my personal hero, once again shows how character matters. "I appeal to you as a leader of our country to do all you can to lead by example and to show others that collaboration, cooperation, and yes, character does matter in what we do as a nation." I hope the members of congress and all in leadership of this great Nation take this weekend to read this book. #fedsquaredconsulting
