Eric Beinhocker once said that innovation and evolution boil down to a simple yet profound formula: 💡experiment, 💡select, 💡amplify. At its core, evolution thrives on collective learning and the remarkable ability of humanity to build ideas upon ideas. This is why networks are the lifeblood of innovation; they accelerate the magic of connection and growth📈. Now, as the year winds down, we find ourselves split into two camps: some are off to sandy beaches and holiday escapes, while others bounce from one social gathering to another, navigating the festive chaos🏄🏿♂️👨🏿🏫. Here's a thought-provoking (and slightly cheeky) question inspired by Mr. Beinhocker’s wisdom🤔: Are the people around you helping you evolve? Are they contributing to your collective learning and making you smarter, more innovative, and sharper? Or are they just masterfully wasting your most precious resource your time discussing whether pineapple belongs on pizza or whose the better Minister within the Government of National Unity😁 Choose your tribe wisely fellas, because innovation doesn't just happen in the lab, it happens in the company you keep. #siyamorriscuratedthoughts #carpediem2024

Hypothesis: If every person "wanting to do good" was part of a (local, global) community that made it easy, fun and rewarding for them to see how they can use TODAY to utilize or activate/ hone their existing skills, motivation, passion, knowledge (data), capital (money and other) for a greater societal/ environmental purpose -- while learning a great deal about their own self in the process of so doing -- I bet we'd see hundreds, thousands, or even millions of people follow the call, acting on their own inherent potential. As a group of entrepreneurs and believers in change from the "inside out", we decided to try it out; starting in the tech sector. Planetir 𝗪𝗲’𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵. Our mission is to unite a global ecosystem to equip changemakers with the skills and opportunities to take planetary action. A platform to regenerate the planet: A place for people in the tech industry who want to make a difference to learn new skills starting first with the soft ‘heartware’ skills. For individuals, businesses and collectives - One big ecosystem, connecting all to unite and take action. Want to become one of our first pioneers? Get in touch via pm or join us at the Grand Palais Ephémère, Paris for ChangeNOW 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 between today and March 27, where Planetir was chosen for the 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 among only 30 other exhibitors. Standing beneath the Eiffel Tower, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and wonder. It's quite a unique experience to attend the ChangeNOW summit in Paris, the biggest event on planet-saving solutions. Being one of 35,000 attendees, you start to wonder: how to organize this community for impact? Even though there's great teamwork between big companies and startups, navigating how everything fits together remains difficult. Conversations and meetings with change-makers like Verena, Jeannette, Nicola, Christian, Harald, and Rainer highlighted a mind-shift from selling stuff to solving systemic problems. And guess what: at ChangeNOW, everything is organized not by industry but rather by which societal or planetary challenge is addressed. If you want to address inclusion, there is an area for that. If you are keen on solving behavior change for circular business models, there is a section for that. Yesterday evening futur/io Institute hosted a CSO reception with a view of the Eifel Tower. When the lights started to sparkle, there was a sense of magic in the air. It reminded me that real impact results from everyone coming together with a shared purpose - connecting, meeting, and inspiring each other—one challenge at a time. #ChangeNOW2024 #Impact #SustainableWorld #Purpose

Day 2 Humanitech Summit has the theme "leveraging capability across sectors is the way we solve humanitarian problems - the future is more not less" Founded through collaboration Australian Red Cross Humanitech has evolved and continues to be a proof point of what can be achieved working in this way. With rising need as a consequence of the increased frequency and intensity of disasters, the changing climate, rising conflict and global disruptions, now more than ever, the ability to create networks of value to solve humanitarian problems has never been greater. How might we do this in ways that ensure solutions, including those that leverage tech, solve real world problems with people and communties? How might we challenge and redesign the funding and commercial models to help unleash this potential? Jagan Chapagain set the tone for the day in his opening remarks encouraging us all to act on the problems of today to positively influence the future. Ian Gray gave a practical masterclass on building and leveraging value networks. 👌 brilliant frameworks! And out in the tech playground start-ups and technologists are demonstrating in real life delivering impact and scale is achievable. Australian Red Cross Telstra Foundation

WebSummit wasn't just a tech conference—it was a reminder that at the heart of every innovation, every startup, and every breakthrough, there are people. Real people with real stories, all contributing to the tapestry of our industry's future. Let's be honest - conferences can be overwhelming, but there's something special about this one. Maybe it's because everybody's there to learn and share, or maybe it's just the energy of being around people who believe they can make a difference. I want to highlight some of the amazing people who made this experience unforgettable: • Hind Ziane - You brought light to Chad's political journey and hope to its people. Your brave story is truly inspiring women in politics worldwide. • Karl Pärtel - Thanks for sharing your journey with the EIC and the real talk about grant applications. Your eco-friendly packaging product RAIKU Packaging Packaging is exactly what we need to fight climate change! • Luis Felipe Gutman - Our conversation about sustainable funds and ESG's role in startups was eye-opening. Excited to watch terralisfund make sustainable dreams reality. • Edem YIGAN - Thank you for listening to my journey with such interest and connecting over our common passions. • Alessandro Saade - Mind-blown by what Espro is doing in education, inclusion, and youth opportunities. Keep changing lives! • Felipe Fittipaldi - Discovering Atlas and its focus on youth career guidance and placement was inspiring! It’s not just impactful but also a pillar of sustainable development. • Pablo Bezerra - Your networking skills are topnotch, thank you! • Gabriel Patrocinio - Your blend of kindness and hard work is inspiring. Looking forward to watching your journey unfold. • Luan Dondé - Your passion for digital transformation is contagious! TD Business has a true gem. • Sue Mah - Our political discussions could have gone on for hours! You're the perfect example of Canadian kindness - Invest Vancouver is lucky to have you. • Charis Maimaris - Thanks for the quick turnaround on that amazing video! Loved hearing about your content creation journey. • Joana Anastácio - Your support and kindness shine through in your work with the Global Compact Network's accelerator programs. And of course, Paddy Cosgrave - Thank you for orchestrating this Web Summit Summit experience. Here's to real conversations between humans. #websummit #websummit2024 #innovation

More excitement in #OC last week with the Octane OC Tech Innovation Forum elevating the prominence of emerging #biotech, #medtech, #sustainability and #generativeAI - in our ecosystem. I caught several sessions that sparked my fire for driving technology forward across many fronts. Key sparks included: ✨ A fiery all-day Fast Pitch with a frenzy of promising #startups that are reshaping the SoCal landscape. From creating a vaccine to combat Long Covid, a respiratory device to monitor infants in the ICU, a connected and reimbursed back brace to improve posture and relieve pain and a better device for pumping breast milk to an AI twin that you can monetize to EV charging at fast food and an EV battery that is cheaper and lasts longer, these fearless ventures are aiming to deploy next-gen technology to improve our lives. The presenters were on point, but pitching the essence of your business in under five minutes was a challenge! The winning formula for these startup pitches was: ✨ Powerful one-liner opener ✨ Customer pain points ✨ Your hallelujah solution ✨ Why now story ✨ TAM/SAM/SOM ✨ How you blow away competitors ✨ Lock up of IP and slick product development/roadmap ✨ Compelling business model ✨ Exceptional team to execute ✨ Enticing investment opportunity One presenter told me it took him more than 25 run-throughs to get it down to the magic five minutes. Practice makes perfect. ✨ The fun continued into the cocktail hour as my fellow innovation junkies gathered at UCI to swap stories and share insights on advancing young companies faster and standing out to investors. Tips about highlighting traction – continued progress toward milestones –abound. ✨ Donning his signature Hawaiian shirt and flip-flops, Palmer Luckey captivated us with his down-to-earth demeanor yet visionary and authentic banter on topics from how his company has been at the forefront of using AI in both air and underwater unmanned vehicles….recalling how he navigated Anduril being named the most controversial tech company at one point despite ugly scandals at Facebook and Uber, to how Irvine is a great place to work but the nightlife stinks for his high-talent young engineers! ✨The space tech panel was inspiring – with Kate Lynch representing a strong woman leader making strides to advance AI and space frontiers. ✨Women of Octane gathered on the hot topic of male allies with #HBAOC President Shawn Andrews, who profiled teaming with men who are open to advocating for women leaders. ✨ The greatest sparks happen when exchanging ideas with innovators! Dr. Romina Ghassemi, Jiahao Jiang, Bruce Lyday, Greg Buchert, Hal Walbrink, Don Lavoie, Jonno Wells, Scott Kitcher, Euljoon Park, A.K. 'Venus' Jenkins, Jo Rosen, Carol DiStanislao, Sabah Fatima, Cynthia West, JJ Richa, Hank Blank, Shaun Sanders, Xavier Valencia, Juan Felipe Vallejo, Vitaly Dubinin, Art Robbins, Carlos Mladineo, Jonathan Drucker, Mei Headley, Marco Barraza, Thomas Nichols, Paul Symczak
