Highlighting #HumanRights in Tourism   Thanks to our colleague Caroline Steimle, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility FTI GROUP, for addressing the critical issue of human rights in tourism at the recent panel discussion “Joint Effort, Joint Benefits - Industry-wide Training on Human Rights for Tourism Suppliers” at ITB.   “The tourism industry holds a responsibility to safeguard human rights along the value chain. To really improve standards, collaboration, partnership and multi-stakeholder approach is needed as it is so much more impactful. One of the challenges is that there is an overlap in partners and suppliers – and it is important not to overburden them with various training concepts, similar content. Its innovative outdoor escalators and vibrant murals tell a story of resilience and renewal that inspires visitors from around the globe. Busting Myths About Colombia: - Safety Concerns: Much has changed, and today Colombia is as safe as many other top travel destinations, welcoming millions of tourists annually. - Past Conflicts: The focus now is on cultural richness and tourism, not its historical conflicts. - Drugs Narrative: This outdated stereotype is overshadowed by Colombia's economic growth and cultural festivals. - Underdevelopment: Contrary to perceptions, Colombia boasts modern cities with thriving arts, music scenes and innovative restaurants. - Limited Cuisine: Colombian cuisine is incredibly diverse, offering a rich array of flavors beyond the famous coffee, including fresh seafood on the coast and exotic fruits found nowhere else. Yesterday I visited BIT Milano, Italy's #tourism trade fair. It was a chance to meet in person with Kino Italy partners and with members of Associazione Italiana Nomadi Digitali, the Italian Digital Nomad Association. Walking through the fair and checking out the booths of different Italian regions, I had the impression that we are anchored to a very traditional way to see tourism and that we are missing out on more innovative trends, like #workandtravel, #remotework and digital nomadism (or at least we are terribly behind). Italy is full of wonders, and tourism is vital to our economy, but we are overlooking innovative models that could impact many sectors, beyond the tourist one. The 'Open to Meraviglia' campaign showcases Italy's legendary beauty by presenting a modern twist on Botticelli's iconic Venus.
