This summer marked the culmination of Greenwich Park Revealed. This major project spanning several years has restored the park's unique 17th-century landscape, created new learning and volunteering spaces, hosted more free events and community activities, and enhanced biodiversity. Check out our gallery of then and now photos below to see the amazing transformations which have taken place across the park.

Every time I deliver a workshop that brings together people from various functions within an organization, they often come in thinking they may not have much to contribute to the topic. Yet, every time, the reflection at the end of the day is the most rewarding part, as I hear statements like, "I didn't think I would have creative ideas that could add to this solution!" Understanding the context is crucial for unlocking people's potential, especially in the field of design. Every individual can leverage their knowledge, systems thinking, and creativity to make significant contributions to their organization. This week, we had the pleasure of collaborating with the AUB Nature Conservation Center on a dynamic workshop. We combined creativity with strategy, guiding the team through the World Café Methodology to develop an innovative Outreach Strategy. The session encouraged vibrant collaboration and idea-sharing, while also equipping the NCC team with essential design research tools to boost their projects, community engagement, and strategic initiatives. It was inspiring to see innovation and strategic design come to life through practical, hands-on learning. #AUBNCC #StrategicDesign #CommunityEngagement #Innovation #ProfessionalDevelopment #DesignThinking

Nature doesn't thrive in places if the people nearby are struggling. So how do we embed people and community in nature recovery? Edel McGurk part of Big Chalk has some thoughts. Starting with honest & humble questions: What sort of place do you want to live and work in? What sort of place do you want your children to live in? What are the problems you want to fix? "This is by no means about diminishing the importance of nature recovery or inviting lesser outcomes, and definitely not about inviting harm for the environment. But questions like this enable us build understanding, to find the common ground and ultimately agree on powerful shared ambitions which benefit people and nature."
Putting people at the heart of nature's recovery: At Big Chalk, we know achieving our partnership's vision of nature-rich chalk and limestone landscapes means making nature’s benefits meaningful and available to everyone. Our latest blog, written by Edel McGurk, Regional Director Southeast at Natural England, explores how embracing diverse values and cultural perspectives can spark fresh ideas and strengthen our collective commitment to nature recovery. With Big Chalk’s mission of collectively securing nature's future across southern England's chalk and limestone landscapes in mind, Edel challenges us to continue to dream big for nature while starting with people and their aspirations for the places they live and work in. Guardian of GAIA Wisdom 🌿 Cultivate Green Spaces 💡Insight: "As guardians of GAIA, we recognize the importance of cultivating green spaces to enhance biodiversity and promote well-being." 🤔 Reflection: Green spaces, such as parks, gardens, and urban forests, play a crucial role in providing habitats for wildlife, improving air quality, and offering spaces for recreation and relaxation. By actively participating in the creation and maintenance of green spaces, we contribute to the health of our communities and the vitality of our planet. 🌳 Action Step: Dedicate time to cultivate green spaces in your local area. This could involve volunteering for a community garden, planting trees in public parks, or advocating for the preservation of natural areas. The RSPB is among the most respected voices in nature conservation – so its ideas about National Parks matter. The charity has just published a considered piece urging people to take part in the consultation for a new National Park in Galloway, South and East Ayrshire. The article states that: “The evidence shows that National Parks galvanise action for nature. “Scotland’s National Parks have a vital role to play in tackling the interlinked nature and climate crises and in delivering a just transition. “Through the coordinating role of National Park Authorities, government agencies, local communities, NGOs and businesses are able to work together and drive progress towards a shared vision. “It is through this integrated approach to people and nature that our National Parks are positioned to deliver the kind of landscape scale change we need to see.” A key point is that the RSPB says that the proposed National Park provides opportunities for collaboration including through the existing Galloway and Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere. The organisation urges the Scottish Government to be ambitious in drawing up the boundary of any new National Park, recognising that an area which is bigger and more joined up will create greater opportunities for collaboration and landscape scale action for nature and climate. A couple of weeks ago, while looking for connection for regenexus, Kymber came across the Revive Festival organised by EarthCorps in Seattle, USA. With a few days left in Canada, they travelled over the (fastidious) US border to the Tukwila Community Centre. This was such an uplifting and engaging event, dedicated to reviving the local environment and community. The live performance from Erin McMillin suited the vibe perfectly with heartfelt, beautiful songs, some written as a former EarthCorp member. Lunch was crafted by Conscious Eatery which was not only local, delicious, and nutritious, it was important. Every sandwich bought donated a sandwich to feed those that needed it. This event was rooted in community, with its executives (Evlyn Andrade & Shanon Tysland) and members all sharing a passion for the betterment of this place. Senior Ecologist Nelson, knowledgeably lead a guided tour, about the once rather precarious situation of the Duwamish River, a spawning and rearing site for sea run salmon. At one time pollution and urbanisation had meant these incredibly adaptive fish were struggling to survive. There were also valuable lessons learnt about the sometimes conflicting agendas of urban planners and environmental ecologists. Understanding and communication is key to achieving the best outcomes for nature and society. This event was shared by EarthCorps’ community partners, some of whom they had amazing conversations with an aligning of views and values which was refreshing and reassuring on this start-up journey ( Natural Areas Conservancy Green Seattle Partnership & Front and Centered). Persistence is key. Kymber was humbled and so grateful to have been able to take part in Revive Festival, and look forward to continuing some of the conversations started. Education and knowledge-sharing can happen in many different shapes and forms, and it is something that Regenexus is passionate about as it grows across eco-climates, facilitating partnerships to achieve even a small portion of what EarthCorps in Washington has. #supportlocal #environment #community #indigenousknowledge #knowledge #persistence #MotherNature #natureissociety #livemusic #feelgoodevent #communityaction #sustainabledevelopment Rebecca Rosado

💚 This #GivingTuesday, you can restore an estate in the Scottish Highlands for both people and wildlife. 💚 🏴 Decades of historical land use on the Dalnacardoch Estate in the Cairngorms National Park have left wildlife clinging on in fragments. Together, we can breathe life back into this land by: 💧 Reviving the peatlands by blocking drains to stop water and life from draining from them. 🌱 Restoring natural processes and habitats through planting and natural regeneration of woodlands and revitalising the river. 🦫 Collaborating with organisations and neighbouring estates to encourage iconic species such as beavers and wildcats that have long been missing to return. 🌳 Inspiring local communities and visitors to immerse themselves in the environment. ⭐️ Creating jobs and establishing a one-of-a-kind training centre for conservationists and land managers. 👇 A gift from you will help recover this landscape for future generations to reconnect with Scotland’s native biodiversity. https://bit.ly/3YAUx64
