A business strategy isn’t to be tokenistically developed and forgotten about. A strategy is to be your guiding light, the focal point of the work of the organisation and those who work on behalf of it. We launch our new business strategy for 2024-28 ‘Driving the Local Game’, with five key strategic priorities; 1. Improving playing choice and opportunity 2. Deliver equal opportunities for women and girls to play 3. Build more, and improve existing, facilities 4. Tackle poor behaviour 5. Develop a valued network of volunteers, coaches and referees And three key strategic drivers; 1. Support thriving community clubs 2. Connect and serve participants 3. Progress the game’s governance We’ve called the strategy ‘Driving the Local Game’ because that’s what we intend to do - drive participation numbers and opportunities for all, drive female participation across all areas/roles in the game, drive facility improvement including grass pitches, drive positive behaviours to create nurturing and welcoming environments, and drive the numbers and experience of those who make the game possible. A focus on thriving community clubs, connected participants, and enhanced governance across the game will enable us to do that. All with the continued vision of creating A Thriving Local Game. Well done Matt Stebbings for the work done in preparing the strategy which will guide the work of the organisation over the next four years.

2600 people in Australia are diagnosed with Bowel Cancer before the age of 50. The signs are hard to detect, which leads to late diagnosis in so many under 50’s (like my mum @ 36). Two very different campaigns, with very similar marketing objectives, uniting with a common goal in a one-off partnership. 👨👨👧👦 - Target Audiences Both Quins and 20th Century Studios will be targeting the same audience to a) attend their flagship summer rugby match and b) watch the new Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes movie. 🗓️ - Campaign Timeline With Harlequins’ “Big Summer Kick Off” matchday taking place on Saturday 27th April, and 20th Century Studios’ release of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes releasing on 9th May - both parties are speaking to the same audience at the same time - why not combine and double the efforts? 🤝🏼 - Brand Parallels The “Together Strong” slogan, combined with the movie storyline draws great parallels of those of a rugby team. Team cohesion, physicality and pride are just some of the consistent brand values that can be leveraged in market activation. 🤩 - Disruptive Content The digital marketing world is fiercely competitive and everybody is fighting for visibility. This partnership has the ability to disrupt and cut through if executed effectively. Hats off to all at Harlequins and 20th Century Studios for being brave enough to upset the status quo, I really hope this partnership works and becomes a case study for more brilliant industry crossovers in sports. 🃏🦍🎬 What do you think? 👇🏼

It appears my comment was deleted twice from the below post - so thought I'd share it here. Venue owners should listen as well as amplify; that's how we improve, take stock and evolve. The comment: The gig was great - no doubt. Foo's rocked! 🤘🎆 But there was a severe lack of operational efficiency at the gig venue. Examples: The bars were the worst I've experienced - no hyperbole. This is 2024, but multiple 40+ people queues across the stadium, concourses and on the pitch/standing area with dithering staff and stock issues. Then, the grim sight of single-use plastic cups covering the stadium floor (and I'm sure, the stadia seats) - fans kicking through rivers of clear plastic cups to get to exit points. Again, this is 2024 and there are many other sustainable options. Then the misery and danger of trying to get back to Stratford station from the stadium. If you missed the end of the gig, you might have stood a chance. If you stayed to the end like we did, it was a 2-hour kettling-session with little security and no policing. Appalling and at many times dangerous. I appreciate the hubris Graham Gilmore, but your team would benefit from an overhaul in operational efficiency. In almost 25 years of producing global events this was one of the worst operations I've witnessed as a fan. I'd be v happy to talk about solutions or strategic tactics over a cuppa if you do plan for London Stadium to hit London 2012 heights again, and be heralded for operational excellence as a viable international venue on the global circuit.
