In partnership with Middlesex University we prepare our T Level Health sixth formers for careers in NHS and healthcare. Students are taught by an experienced midwife in our new T Level Centre, complete with a maternity ward. We've been so impressed with how effective T Levels are at preparing young people for the world of work that we have expanded our offering this year. Students better suited to a combination of hands-on learning with classroom study can now take one of three T Levels in Saracens Sixth Form: Health; Digital; and Business. #Tlevels #sixthform #careerfocused #futures #healthcare #midwifery #midwifetraining #futuresatsaracenshigh #careersinhealthcare

A Clinician’s Perspective: The Taliban’s Ban on Women in Nursing and Midwifery Education As a healthcare professional, I am profoundly alarmed by the Taliban’s recent edict that prohibits Afghan women from pursuing education in nursing and midwifery. This decree not only egregiously undermines women’s rights but also poses a significant threat to the health and well-being of the entire Afghan population. Midwives and nurses are crucial to maternal and child health, particularly in Afghanistan, where maternal mortality rates rank among the highest in the world. These professionals deliver essential care during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum, especially in regions with limited healthcare access. By systematically barring women from these educational pathways, the Taliban are dismantling a vital part of the healthcare system, leaving countless women without critical medical support. The consequences of this policy are devastating. Without trained female healthcare providers, Afghan women will be forced to avoid essential medical care due to cultural prohibitions against interacting with male practitioners. This will undoubtedly lead to an increase in preventable complications and deaths among mothers and infants, further deepening an already dire public health crisis. Additionally, this ban exacerbates the marginalisation of women, stripping them of opportunities for professional development and economic independence. It perpetuates a cycle of oppression, denying women the right to contribute to society and improve their own lives and those of their families. The international community cannot afford to remain silent. Human rights organisations, global health entities, and governments around the world must condemn this regressive policy and demand the restoration of women’s rights to education and professional participation in Afghanistan. Diplomatic and economic pressures must be employed to compel the Taliban to reverse this harmful decree. As healthcare providers, we are dedicated to preserving life and promoting health. The Taliban’s ban on women in nursing and midwifery education is a direct affront to these fundamental principles. It is an attack on human dignity and represents a serious setback for public health in Afghanistan. We must stand in solidarity with Afghan women and healthcare professionals, advocating fiercely for their right to learn, work, and care for their communities. What are your priorities for advancement against the global strategic directions for #nursing and #midwifery? - education? - jobs? - leadership? - service delivery? As an IP, for me service delivery has to be a key focus. - This links with the quality of water, sanitation and hygiene and #infectionprevention and as such quality of care. The global strategy runs through 2025. https://lnkd.in/db6htyvR Thanks to #nursingleadership from World Health Organization & collaborating centres, and many others, for taking this forward - many of us have a role to play. - For example, joined up messaging regarding these strategic directions and how we are advancing #WASH and #IPC for both #patients and #healthworkers in-country in support of safe, quality service delivery is critical.

Hi there, I’m contemplating studying to gain the CHIA certification - keen to hear from health care leaders, particularly nursing and midwifery who have completed the CHIA course. Did you find it useful? In what ways? What are some of the tools you use regularly? what kind of time demand was there? Was it really difficult? Happy for a DM if you’d prefer not to post publicly. Thanks! #CHIA #healthinformatics
