If you have an interest in research ethics, the National Science Foundation is looking for input to inform the development of their response to Section 10343. Research Ethics in the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022. The Request for Information (RFI) can be found here: https://lnkd.in/ejudSRB5, which includes a link to a survey. In research, ethics serve as guiding principles through the stages of discovery, analysis, and reporting. Ethical considerations aren't just suggestions; they are foundational for responsible and impactful research. As a research analyst, research ethics are incredibly important to me, here are some of the reasons why. Collaboration and Trust: Ethical research fosters collaboration, building trust among researchers, participants, and the wider community. This trust is the cornerstone of meaningful partnerships that drive innovation. Sustainable Innovation: Beyond immediate results, ethical research ensures the sustainability of innovation. By prioritizing integrity and transparency, we lay the groundwork for solutions that stand the test of time. Global Impact: Research transcends borders, and ethical practices amplify the global impact of our work. Respecting diverse perspectives and safeguarding the well-being of all involved is key to creating research with a positive legacy. Each ethical decision is a contribution to a future where knowledge is not only profound but also a force for positive change. Let's commit to a future where the legacy of our research isn't just groundbreaking solutions but a testament to the dedication to integrity, and in turn each other. *Source: https://lnkd.in/eE-7BpNu, https://lnkd.in/esMQswcC #EthicalResearch #ResearchEthics #GlobalImpact #ResearchExcellence

An old article, that I remember reading during my PhD. Still very useful - it has been cited over 5000 times. The idea of 'ethically important moments' really reonsates with me in my research practice. 'Procedural ethics' are, I think, very important, but 'ethics in practice' requires much more than just adhering to what you said you would do in your application for ethical review. As the article discusses, reflexivity is key. https://lnkd.in/eG-VUj5b
