This data is absolutely fascinating. Why? The absence of English clubs in the list of top clubs at developing talent when we have the richest League on the planet. So what could be the cause? At the top our clubs are acting like brands - a showcase for the world's stars. So development isn't top of their agendas. Lower down the financial divides are becoming massive so investment in long term projects - such as community projects, stadia improvements and academies - gets deprioritised. With clubs actively encouraged to spend on short-term goals, namely players' wages in order to compete and climb up the pyramid. And what causes the financial imbalance? Football's financial flow, which is controlled 100% by the Premier League - an organisation run for the benefit of its 20 shareholders - the multi millionaire owners of the 20 Premier League clubs. And naturally their remit is to protect their own interest, so they have little or no incentive to help the clubs outside the top flight. in the last 20 years, the gaps between all the divisions in England have grown massively, check the reports page on www.fairgameuk.org. In short, to bridge the divide you have to spend way beyond your means and cut investment. So what is the solution? Ensure the incoming Football Governance Bill sets firm parameters around and financial distribution deal, which includes closing the finanical divides between divisions, compensation for player development and rewarding well-run clubs. That is now in the hands of our politicians. Will they stand strong or bow to the powerful Premier League lobby. You can hear me speak more at The International Sports Convention in Manchester on 14 November. Nigel Fletcher
🇵🇹Portugal stands out once again as a powerhouse in developing talent in world football. The recent study by @CIES Football, which places Sport Lisboa e Benfica and Sporting Clube de Portugal in the Top 10 of the clubs that train the most players for the 49 best leagues in the world, highlights the impact of Portuguese football and the value of a well-structured base, combined with scouting of excellence. 🔝The presence of two Portuguese clubs in the world ranking reflects the success not only of the training methods, but also of the scouting network that identifies and monitors young promises with the potential to evolve at the highest level. An effective scouting system is essential to feed academies like those of Sport Lisboa e Benfica Sporting Clube de Portugal, FC Porto, SC Braga etc, which are able to leverage raw talent and prepare it for the challenges of the main international leagues. 🌍 This prominent position shows that Portugal is not only a gateway to European leagues, but also a global reference in training high-level athletes. With 94 players from Sport Lisboa e Benfica and 84 from Sporting Clube de Portugal spread across the world, both clubs contribute to Portuguese football's reputation for quality and competence. Furthermore, investment in scouting and training creates a lasting impact, strengthening national football and generating opportunities for young talents who aspire to international success. 🔎https://lnkd.in/d-eEfX-V #Football #YouthAcademy #PlayerDevelopment #Scouting #FootballScouting #TalentID #PortugueseFootball #SLBenfica #SportingCP #CIESReport #FootballIndustry Liga Portugal

One of the main challenges faced by national federations and clubs competing in or organising CEV competitions is the restriction of product protected categories. The CEV holds the rights to several product categories, and even when CEV has no contractual obligations towards potential partners, these categories remain protected and may be released only a few weeks before the competition starts. This timing poses significant difficulties for national federations and clubs, as securing sponsors just weeks before a competition is highly challenging. To address this issue, my program proposes that protected categories should be released one year prior to the start of competition if the CEV has no contractual obligations. This change would provide national federations and clubs sufficient time to negotiate sponsorship contracts effectively. Additionally, the CEV would always retain the ability to negotiate non-exclusive deals if opportunities arise. Furthermore, an audit of sponsorship assets and a review of the commercial structure will be necessary before finalizing the key product categories. By implementing these changes, we aim to create a more flexible and supportive sponsorship environment, ultimately benefiting the growth and success of volleyball across Europe for National Federations, clubs and CEV. #Vote4Volleyball means #Growth4Volleyball! 🏐 👉 Check out my presidental programme at www.rokosikiric.eu

I have known and followed Eder Sarabia since his first experience as Quique Setién's assistant at Las Palmas. That team, along with Betis in the following years, are the teams that fascinated me the most and helped me develop my knowledge of the positional play model. When Eder began his journey as a head coach with Andorra, I was immediately convinced that he would be a very interesting coach and that his style would generate a lot of attention. This season, he will lead Elche CF in a top-tier campaign in the Segunda División. In the match against Córdoba, they used a 3-3-2-3 positional structure (with GK) in 'open build-up' situations, where the opposing team (4-2-3-1 defensive shape) applied pressure that effectively controlled the spaces. The GK was mainly used to create an initial 3v1, allowing one of the two CBs to carry the ball forward, breaking through the first line of pressure, and seeking solutions to progress. In this situation, the use of the 3v1 is effective. The left CB's ball progression happens without interference, due to the opponents marking the reference points, and on the opposite side, it causes disorganization, creating free space for direct progression. The development is straightforward: once the opposite fullback is found in that free area, with perfect execution, they drive diagonally towards the edge of the box and attack the goal. 💻 Analyzed with Play3 by Metrica Sports 🎟️ Contact me to receive the link to download ‘Play by Metrica Sports’ with 10% discount

The last available audited CEV accounts (2022) report an income of €19.2 million, with marketing rights contributing just €440,000, or 2.29 % of the total income. This figure excludes the long-term Mikasa deal, which combines cash and value-in-kind (VIK). Budgets beyond 2022 do not forecast significant increases in sponsorship and marketing income. Notably, over 50 % of the CEV's revenue is generated from National Federations and Clubs (i.e. European National Teams, European Cups, Administrative Income, and European Beach & Snow Competition accounts). This financial model is not sustainable and does not support the growth of national federations and clubs. The CEV, as the governing body of European Volleyball, should be the driving force behind the growth of our sport. In my presidential program, I offer a solution to this challenge. In the coming posts, I will share more details on how we can develop a more sustainable financial model that fosters growth and development across all levels of European volleyball. Info: the numbers are rounded to nearest whole percentage point. #Vote4Volleyball means #Growth4Volleyball! 🏐 Source: 2023 XLIV CEV Congress - Handbook
