Today marks the 75th anniversary of the Geneva Conventions. Adopted on 12 August 1949, these conventions have been crucial in safeguarding the lives and rights of millions affected by armed conflict. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies - IFRC remains committed to these principles and reaffirms its support to the International Committee of the Red Cross - ICRC in upholding them.
