Various policy shortcomings are in place that could hamper the progression of safe and efficient sanitation for school-aged children. The School Colloquium addressed the concern surrounding these policies. A conclusion amongst stakeholders is that different policies surrounding education and sanitation need to have a component that specifically focuses on school sanitation. A stronger and robust political framework that sets a shared vision with firm rules and quality checks on implementation and maintenance of school sanitation systems and hygiene policies would greatly benefit the school sanitation landscape in South Africa. sastep.org.za #SanitationForAll #SASTEP #sanitationinnovation #sanitationtechnology

Role play in community WASH I got this water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) community enlightenment clip from a resource person during a UNICEF-sponsored programme in Nigeria. Please watch and learn something useful such as; The dangers of open defecation Dangers of drinking water from the river without treating it How to treat home drinking water Proper way to wash your hands using soap and clean water Need to wash fruits before eating How to serve in a community-support situation How to prepare oral rehydration fluid Understanding the importance of seeking medical help immediately Using improved sanitation facility. #day12of14 #LinkedInPowerUpChallengewithAlice #watersanitationhygiene #WASH #underfivechildren #safedrinkingwater

Goal 6: Ensure access to water and sanitation for all While substantial progress has been made in increasing access to clean drinking water and sanitation, billions of people—mostly in rural areas—still lack these basic services. Worldwide, one in three people do not have access to safe drinking water, two out of five people do not have a basic hand-washing facility with soap and water, and more than 673 million people still practice open defecation. #Tenders #CTC @undpkuwait 💡Tip to mention a company: Copy-paste or type the LinkedIn page URL in your post. Improving sanitation safety doesn’t stop at providing sanitation solutions in communities. Education plays a vital role in improving sanitation and hygiene, and therefore reducing water and airborne diseases. Educating communities on safe sanitation, handwashing and other sanitation practices is a vital step in transforming the sanitation landscape in South Africa. https://bit.ly/3VfnbYH #SanitationForAll #SASTEP #sanitationinnovation #sanitationtechnology #NGSKnowledgeHub #WorldToiletDay

Handwashing Practice Proper washing of hands with soap and water at critical times, and keeping the environment clean are noted as the most cost-effective actions to reduce disease and effective handwashing practices with soap and water could reduce diarrheal deaths by up to 50% (CDC, 2022). The present worry in Nigeria is that at least 70,000 children die yearly from disease burdens caused by a triple threat of unsafe water, poor sanitation and poor hand hygiene. But we can change this ugly narrative by engaging school communities to enable children engage in good handwashing practice. *Note Critical times for handwashing with clean water and soup include; After using the toilet After cleaning the environment Before cooking food Before eating After cleaning nostrils After tending animals After cleaning a wound After caring for someone who is ill The picture here was during a community handwashing demonstration session, to help the mothers understand that very little quantity of water can be enough to wash their hands clean as long as they get someone to help pour the water in gradually like a trickling tap; and using soap as well.

Sanitation and Hygiene would and could become a secondary problem, albeit it should not, as a problem, let alone a zillionth, as the zillions of mazy networks of the brain is certainly to sustain only one/zillionth to "care" for the whole Universe, technologically, socioeconomically and even politically. God is intelligence and Intelligence is God, to extent the educed only seeks to do godly things. Racism has an effect of misappropriation and misprioritization of intelligence and rather ceding to hygiene and sanitation, especially with the particulate and godly deeds required of the educed. -TO GOD BE THE GLORY Like

World Toilet Day 2024: Time to Reflect and Act Today, we join the world in marking World Toilet Day a day dedicated to highlighting the importance of safe sanitation and the urgent need to tackle the global sanitation crisis. As individuals and as a country, it’s crucial to take a moment to assess: ✅ Our Progress: What steps have we taken to improve access to safe toilets and sanitation? ❌ Our Challenges: What barriers still exist, such as open defecation, lack of infrastructure, or insufficient awareness? 🚀 The Journey Ahead: How can we commit to deliberate actions that ensure access to safe and dignified sanitation for everyone? In Nigeria, open defecation remains a pressing issue, affecting public health, dignity, and the environment. But we have the power to change this! By advocating for better policies, supporting local sanitation projects, and raising awareness, we can combat open defecation and build a healthier, more sustainable future. 💡 Remember: Access to proper sanitation is not a privilege—it’s a fundamental human right. Let’s take deliberate action today, for ourselves, our communities, and future generations. #WorldToiletDay #SanitationMatters #EndOpenDefecation #SustainableDevelopment
