Day 1 of the Learning and Development Africa 2024 Conference was a compelling blend of thought-provoking sessions, shared wisdom, and deep introspection. We started with a powerful reminder that wisdom is not like money that you can tie and hide. This African proverb set the tone for open conversations and knowledge sharing, encouraging us to embrace wisdom as a collective resource that grows when shared. Caroline Kusimba’s session left a lasting impression with the assertion that "vision is a matter of the heart". Her perspective reminded us that genuine leadership goes beyond task management—it requires emotional investment and a strong commitment to a future that inspires. She added that "if you are not committed to a vision, you are merely a manager", challenging us to examine the depth of our own leadership. Joseph C Mukoko, our session moderator, drummed in the need for sustainable leadership journeys, encouraging us to build resilience and adaptability. Donald Omonge pointed out that we need sustainable leadership to harness our potential. What is the role of young leaders in shaping the future of Africa ? Been thinking about this alot lately ,what we as youths are doing in the present and how much more we can do to ensure better governance strategies in the future. ✓The first step we should take in that direction as youths involves changing our mentality and attitude towards democratic processes such as voting because a changed Africa calls for a better leadership structure. ✓Allowing ourselves to give the fresh perspectives that we as young leaders have and taking part in the implementation process. ✓Being the change that we want to see.Making efforts towards learning more about governance and leadership and ways to deliver all that better .
