As a former trustee, this is a great week (Trustees' Week!) to share best practices. I like structure and when I was a trustee I struggled a bit with the differing format of board papers. It often led to confusion and at times it delayed decsion making. So I decided to look at what could be done to improve them - better structure; clearer purpose; options, recommendations and risks included where they should be to enable better decisions.
