The Third Degree has very recently started a podcast series. This initiative is to shed light on and discuss latest issues and insights that shape higher education, research, and academic careers. It offers expert advice and practical tips as you navigate and advance your academic journey. It is there as an additional resource to help you think through problems, strategies, and issues, and to get you more involved in the broader academic world as you progress. Our podcast is in its infancy, but will continue to grow over time, adding more insights, resources, speakers, and ultimately impact for your journey as a #PostGraduateResearcher or #EarlyCareerAcademic. If you have ideas or suggestions for podcast topics, or know of a fantastic person we should invite as a guest (or if you would like to be a guest yourself), do reach out and let us know! Keep pushing the boundaries of knowledge and success in your academic path! #TheThirdDegree #EmpoweringPostGraduateResearch #EmpoweringPostGraduateResearchers Farrell Tan Vighneswaran N Vithiatharan Savia de Sousa Enikő Maior Nirupama Kocherlakota Dr Craig J Selby Judith Flora PhD Either check it out directly through the link below, or through the Resources page of our new website. https://lnkd.in/gZsjSTVM

☕ Take some time out to revisit a previous episode of the #ResearchCultureUncovered podcast. Join Dr Ged Hall and Professor Richard Holliman (Rick) as they discuss the impact of research impact on research culture since the 'impact agenda' first started in the UK. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/er4G2nGV 🗝 Key messages from the discussion: 🔻 The impact agenda has felt like a top-down imposition but it has always existed. 🔻 As a sector, we are still making our way in implementing the impact agenda appropriately at a cultural/organisational level. 🔻 The inclusion of research impact in research assessment in the UK had positive affects on the overall budget for research in the 2010s. 🔻 The ways in which we can do this better - reduced precarity, recognising and celebrating it and working with colleagues to have it formally acknowledged in promotion. 🔻 We all need to be involved in the conversations to deliver the futures we want. 🌐 You can connect with Rick on LinkedIn and find out more about his research from his publication profile. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eABEAnGC Rick also runs the Open University's Engaged Research blog. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eGSau5_s If you enjoy listening to the Research Culture Uncovered podcast, please consider leaving a review on your favourite podcast app or by submitting an online review form. 👇 https://lnkd.in/eSu_rGei #ResearchCulture #ResearchImpact #ImpactAgenda #ResearchAssessment

In today's episode of Global Horizons, we're continuing to analyse examples from the deepening number of examples of "RoboCaps" - nonsensical, contradictory or just downright unexplainable examples of international student cap allocations to various providers. I wish we could say that we're surprised, but there are now too many examples to count. But at least, in happier news, the Australian International Education Conference (AIEC) is under a month away and joining us on the podcast is Louise Goold, the "Program Boss-Lady" for the conference committee, to talk about some of the key sessions coming up. And you know what? We're thinking that this year's AIEC is maybe the most important conference ever to attend. Not only to get up to date with, and know how to respond to, the biggest changes to international education that Australia has ever ever had. But more importantly, to reconnect with colleagues, or meet new ones, and celebrate the real reason we're all in this industry together: for the impact we create. After all, this conference is all about The Human Element (did you like what we did there? 😉) https://lnkd.in/gCvFeJms #intled #podcast #robocaps

You want to listen to this episode to learn what C. J. Hobson, Ed.D. is saying about this topic.
🎙️ Episode 64 - “Managing Change in International Education: Disrupting the ‘We’ve Always Done It This Way’ Mentality (feat. C. J. Hobson, Ed.D.)” 🧠 🔥 As international educators, we tend to be changemakers. At the same time, change isn’t always the first word that comes to mind when we think about higher education more broadly. How can we build allyship on campus in pursuit of intentional, thoughtful disruption that advances meaningful progress? Tune in to this week’s episode as I discuss this and a whole lot more with my good friend Jack Hobson, Dean of International Programs and Senior International Officer at Loyola University Maryland in lively Baltimore. I loved this conversation so much; there’s a reason why I like to say that Jack has the best metaphors in study abroad! 🎧Listen wherever you get your podcasts: https://lnkd.in/eEG239Hc WorldStrides #studyabroad #educationabroad #highered #purpose #nafsa #travel #podcast

1/5 Top reasons why academics should podcast…Podcasting drives public engagement and allows your research to have meaningful impact with new audiences. This is not just a numbers game. An academic paper is often only read by other academics within your specialism. But the accessibility of podcasting means your voice can reach not only the wider academic community, allowing for an interdisciplinary approach, but also the public in a way traditional research outlets do not. This new expanded audience means your research is more likely to reach policymakers and key stakeholders increasing the chance of your research invoking genuine change. Another benefit is its real-time impact. While written content may take months or years to publish and disseminate, podcasting allows for immediate feedback from your community, and real time engagement with current issues. Podcasting allows you to respond quickly to current affairs and trending research discoveries. Find out more on our website, link in bio! #researchpodcasts #academicpodcasts #publicengagament #impact
