How do regional film festivals ensure that the movies they play get reviewed? What festivals do this best? How can others improve? Granted, SXSW is generally considered to be in the top 2 or 3 most important national & generalist film festivals in the USA, but I am impressed by how many reviews they generate. What are their Best Practices For Generating Film Reviews?

Exploring the barriers and motivations for young audiences attending film festivals 🎬 Happy to share our latest blog and survey findings where we delve into the experiences and barriers faced by young audiences when it comes to attending film festivals. A notable 43.5% of respondents highlighted lack of information as a key barrier to attending film festivals. This is significant, considering 70% of young people frequently visit cinemas, yet only 43% have ever attended a film festival. This disparity underscores a valuable opportunity to enhance communication, especially among film and media students. One respondent mentioned: “For me, the main reason is the cost of tickets usually.” 🚀 In our blog, we explore: -Why aren't more young people attending film festivals? -What could encourage them to participate? Film festivals are often judged on their relevance to the community. 🌍 We recently saw this in the Netherlands, where future municipal and government funding for festivals is firmly based on their relevance to their communities. This isn't just the case in the Netherlands, all around the world film festivals are on a quest for relevance. In that quest they might seek to add more events or have a year-round presence through partnerships with cinemas or educators. 🌟 Great strategies, but they do come with some extra hurdles as the film festival management suddenly becomes a whole lot more complex.
