Here are the top five reasons why edtech is struggling in India: 1️⃣ Overemphasis on Scaling: Many platforms prioritize expansion through video lectures but neglect the need for innovative, technology-driven solutions tailored to the diverse needs of Indian students. 2️⃣ Misalignment with Student Needs: Profit-focused approaches often result in products that fail to resonate with learners. This disconnect leads to dissatisfaction and low adoption rates. 3️⃣ Lack of Innovative Learning Models: Replicating traditional teaching methods without interactive or personalized experiences has left many students unengaged and underserved. 4️⃣ Financial Mismanagement and Governance Issues: Instances of delayed financial filings and mismanagement, like those seen with Byju's, have eroded trust among investors and consumers alike. 5️⃣ High Competition and Market Saturation: The surge in edtech startups has intensified competition, leading to aggressive marketing tactics and unsustainable business models. 🚀 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧? It’s time to refocus on student-centric solutions, innovative teaching models, and robust governance to rebuild trust and drive meaningful change in India’s education landscape. 💡 Let’s create a future where edtech truly transforms education in India, addressing the needs of learners and creating impactful, sustainable growth. Byju's EGM was the talk of the town, especially within the EdTech field. Its unfortunate, how the Byju's story panned out but EdTechs will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of learning. Let's explore some of the factors that could potentially lead to the success of an EdTech. 1️⃣ Personalisation: Education has always been personal touch between the tutor and the student. Now, with AI being mainstream, utilisation of AI and ML to analyse user data to Tailor learning experiences to individual needs and preferences is important. 2️⃣ Accessibility: Ensure that your platform is accessible to the masses (if it is a B2C product). The pricing needs to be for Indian market and the content should provide value to the customer. 3️⃣ Accustomed to current trend : In today's job market, skills often hold more weight than formal education. Therefore, applications should prioritize interactive learning opportunities that foster critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. It's essential to incorporate features that provide industry exposure or facilitate real-world problem-solving experiences. 4️⃣ Continuous Improvement and customer obsession: Culture of continuous improvement basis feedback from users, monitoring performance metrics, and iterating on product roadmap accordingly is critical. Staying agile and responsive to evolving educational needs and technological advancements and ensuring that the customer finding your product valuable is absolutely critical. Edtech was supposed to supplement or disrupt the education sector and now marketing in Edtech needs disruption. I don't think the world about practices or culture are BYJU'S or the other venture funded edtech players. However, I'm not sure if any player has stooped so low as to use the death of a person for their corporate benefit. As a kid there was a time I used to admire the likes of FIITJEE etc. I'm not sure how a sector can consistently mess up ASCII needs to step up and hold these marketers, publishers and agencies accountable. #edtech #India #advertising #marketing

The EdTech Conundrum in India: Why Value Matters More Than Sales 🚫 In recent years, India's EdTech industry has experienced a surge in growth and investment. Yet, despite raising significant capital, some of the leading players have become more sales-driven and less focused on delivering real educational value. This shift has raised concerns about the sustainability and ethics of these platforms. Byju's, Great Learning, and Others: A Shift Towards Sales Companies like Byju's and Great Learning have raised millions in funding. But rather than enhancing the quality of education, many of these platforms are focused on aggressive sales tactics, often targeting vulnerable students and parents. Reports of misleading promises, high-pressure sales tactics, and under-delivery have tarnished the reputation of the EdTech industry in India. The Importance of a Strong Management Team A company's success depends not just on funding but also on a robust management team with a clear vision for delivering value. A well-rounded management team understands that education is a long-term investment in a child's future. It requires commitment, patience, and a genuine focus on outcomes. How Can We Get It Right? Focus on Value: EdTech companies must prioritize educational outcomes over sales metrics. This means developing engaging content, supporting teachers, and providing real value to students. Ethical Practices: Adopt transparent sales practices and ensure that customers are well-informed about what they are purchasing. Continuous Feedback: Establish mechanisms for regular feedback from students, parents, and educators to improve the product. Diverse Expertise: Build a management team with a mix of educational experts, tech professionals, and business strategists to ensure a balanced approach. Let's Build a Better EdTech Industry Together If you're part of an EdTech startup or are interested in helping this industry improve, let's connect. I can provide insights into building ethical, value-driven platforms and strategies for creating a positive impact. It's time to create an EdTech ecosystem that truly empowers students and educators, rather than just chasing the next sale. #EdTech #India #Education #Ethics #ValueOverSales
