🏔 Uncovering the Mysteries of COPD at High Altitudes 👟 Living with COPD comes with its own set of challenges, but when you add in altitude hypoxia, the game changes completely. At >2500 meters above sea level, COPD patients face a whole new level of physical fitness deterioration... Global initiatives for COPD emphasize the importance of personalized exercise programs for its treatment... But here's the twist: standard cardiopulmonary exercise tests (CPET) may prove inadequate for those living in high-altitude regions... Our recent case report delves into this issue. We followed a COPD patient residing at >2500 meters through different cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET) protocols with a two-week gap until achieving our proposed CPET... 🏁 The goal? To establish a CPET protocol for COPD at high altitudes that allows for maximum thresholds of physical performance... 🔎 What did we discover? The minimum criteria set by the American Thoracic Society (ATS) were not met with conventional CPET protocols, and crucial cardiovascular, ventilatory, and metabolic maximals crucial for exercise prescription were not achieved. 📚 Our conclusion? It's time to adapt. CPET protocols for COPD patients need a high-altitude overhaul to truly achieve maximum thresholds... We present our proposed CPET protocol. Let's breathe new life into COPD treatment and tailor our approach to the air we breathe. #COPDInsights #HighAltitudeHealth #AdaptandThrive 🌬️🏔️ https://lnkd.in/eVZENsmD

Fresh report reveals serious deficiencies in the care of heart patients! There are serious deficiencies in the cholesterol monitoring of heart attack survivors across Finland, according to a fresh report from the Heart Register (https://lnkd.in/dHe43RyB). Over a third of patients do not receive crucial LDL cholesterol monitoring, which may increase the risk of new heart events. Why is LDL cholesterol monitoring important? LDL cholesterol monitoring is crucial in post-heart attack care as it helps prevent new heart events. Lowering cholesterol below a certain level is one of the key goals in the treatment of coronary artery disease. What can we learn from the results? The report emphasizes the need to improve treatment practices and ensure continuity of care for heart patients. It also shows that high-quality and comprehensive data sources, such as the Heart Register, are needed to improve care and ensure its quality. How can we promote patient well-being? Patients need information and support for both lifestyle and medication adherence. Post-heart attack care must be continuous and of high quality to ensure patient well-being. Quality registers are key to improving healthcare! Quality registers, such as the Heart Register, provide valuable information about the quality of care and patient outcomes. They can help identify deficiencies and develop treatment practices to be more effective. Now is the time to make changes for better care! Through collaboration, we can ensure that heart patients receive the best possible care and support. It is essential that everyone receives the monitoring and treatment they need to promote heart health. #HeartAttack #LDLCholesterolMonitoring #HeartHealth #QualityRegisters #QualityOfCare #PatientSupport
