"We aspire to leave the world a better place for the next generation - and for much of recent history we have achieved that. But for the next generation of Australians, it's not at all clear that things will be as rosy. "The later millennials - those born in the late 1990s - have not yet seen the same progress in their living standards. Incomes for this group are no higher than those born in the 1980s at the same age." Lighting my own Candle here Scott. Dear #Millennials, #GenZ, and #GenA, We are being gaslit by the generations above us. Its time for Millennials to wake up and realize that the older generations don't care enough about the prosperity of our future. 😞 The (#Boomer, #GenX, #SilentGen) generations who's greed, is seemingly only surpassed by their lack of belief in the potential of a prosperous future, are continuing to create policies that put personal profits and political objectives over the wellbeing of the nation and it's people. On June 1st, in Canada, we launch a policy within our 2024 proposed Liberal Canadian budget that is nothing more than a looking glass into generations of people who don't believe in the future of Canada and a version of Canada that is a winner. An apathy and negligence of the ultra narcissistic to lose faith in the ability for Canada to be #1, and to sell out future generations for comfort and luxury as the reminder for what they represent. Why a Race Equity Series? Since we launched the first Home Truths report in the locked-down summer of 2020, we have talked to hundreds of civil society people about the work and the need for serious action to tackle civil society’s racism problem.   While taking the Home Truths work into the wider world, we have tried to ensure that as we do our talking, we also do plenty of listening to civil society responses to our research and calls to action. In particular, we have tried to identify important sticking points to taking serious and transformative action against racism and for race equity. As a result of our listening, we have put together a Race Equity Series (RES). Each of the themes in the series is an area where we have heard a need in mainstream civil society for clarification and guidance to overcome blockages to progress and to support transformative change on anti-racism and race equity.
