What an insightful talk from such a kind and ispiring person. I loved hearing Margaret’s insights on the topic of networking. Like most things in entrepreneurship, knowing and living your values is everything. I’ve always said I love networking but I’m not very good at it (because I spend all my time chatting and it never feels like ‘networking’). I’m going to stop saying that because I’ve realised that networking is all about getting to know people and what drives them (rather than just finding out what they do for a living). Comparing growing your network to growing a garden was a brilliant metaphor from Margaret. You need to care for your whole network, which doesn’t mean everything all at once but making sure that you are putting energy into the right places at the right times. On a personal note, when I was introduced to Margaret she immediately knew of someone in her network that would be great for me to connect with for my Financial Literacy Education project. A true example of living your values. Thank-you so much Margaret for generously sharing your insights on networking (and your time). Through sharing so many valuable insights, you have given a group of start ups/new businesses a real ‘hand up’ when it comes to growing (and tending to) their networks. 💕
A huge thank you to GCU graduate, Margaret Gibson OBE, for delivering an inspiring ‘Growing Your Network’ workshop today! Margaret shared her incredible journey and emphasised the power of building connections throughout her career. Her insights and practical techniques for effective networking were invaluable. We appreciate everyone who joined us at our new Entrepreneurial Hub for this session. Stay tuned for more ‘Lunch and Learn’ workshops! “Every community has a story to tell, and Georgia’s rural cities and towns are no exception. The heart and soul of these regions are a special part of what makes Georgia a great place to work, learn or grow a business,” shared Vanessa Wagner, CDMP. Our final visit of the year for the CREATE program (Cultivating Rural Entrepreneurs and Transforming Economies) brought us to Tifton, Georgia. There we learned from the Tifton-Tift County Chamber of Commerce, Think Tifton and others about how they are supporting small business growth in the city and county. Streamlining the process and promoting the success of their small and growing businesses is a priority for community leaders in Tifton, GA – and our team can’t wait to support their efforts in 2025. We even got to visit and interview one of entrepreneurs in historic district businesses- The Grey Ghost Comics – a favorite, and often busy, community gathering place for creatives and shoppers alike. While we round up these stories, stay posted in the new year for more previews and community stories about the growth taking place across rural Georgia. #CREATE #EconomicDevelopment #SmallBusiness #ThinkTiftonGA
