Did you know there’s another way to recycle that doesn’t seem to get enough attention in logistics departments, let alone C-suites: in-kind donation. #supplychainbrain #greensupplychain #sustainability

Today is World Recycling Day. We as humans consume way, way too much, and the worse part is how we discard the items, and what happens to it all. As per the UN Sustainable Development Group: ♻ only 9% of all the plastic waste generated globally is recycled 🌱 79% ends up in landfills or in nature 🔥 12% is incinerated Even if amazing organizations like the The Ocean Cleanup keep cleaning our oceans, with our consumption, and with the global #populationgrowth, we are not doing any progress, and it will probably just get worse with time. I follow The Ocean Cleanup on Instagram and see their awesome work... just to have those rivers they clean accumulate #plasticpollution and other junk all over again in a matter of months, sometimes weeks. It's just endless!! I once shared this post (in 2019), now, the population is 8+ billion!...: "I'm one person in 7.7 Billion [now, 8+Billion!] people in the world. I am not be able to make a huge difference on my own. But every bag, straw, or single-use plastic I choose NOT to use, won't end in landfills, the oceans, or in the stomach of a whale, because of me." We're already talking about #spacedebris, my goodness, can we take care of the #earth !! #singleuseplastics #overconsumption #WorldRecyclingDay #bethechange #sustainablegoals #sustainablefuture
The Ocean Cleanup is a non-profit organization on a mission to rid the world's oceans of plastic. As a non-profit, we are funded solely through individual and commercial donations. So, every piece of plastic we've cleaned up, every Interceptor deployment, and all our published open-sourced research is thanks to individuals like you. Everyone can contribute to cleaner oceans. Now you can also easily fundraise - as an individual, as a team, or as a company - through bake sales, physical activity, your own cleanup initiatives, and more: https://lnkd.in/eaJhRYCQ.

🖍Step 2 of the Crayon Journey: Sorting, Melting & Molding 🌈 Once collected, crayons embark on a transformative phase. Sorted by color, they're melted down, their wrappers removed, ensuring no part goes to waste. The wax becomes vibrant new crayons, while the wrappers are repurposed into eco-friendly firelogs. By donating, you're not just giving crayons a second life; you're supporting a cycle of sustainability that keeps waste out of landfills and brings joy to children in hospitals. Help us continue this journey by donating today. ❓Can I recycle worn-out books? ✅Books that can't be reused can be recycled, but some additional steps may be needed. Paperbacks, phone books, and magazines have water-soluble bindings that dissolve in the paper-making process and can be recycled in your curbside cart as is. Hard-cover books have tough covers and bindings that need to be cut off before the paper can be recycled. Otherwise, you can bring them to the Madison Recycling Center at 2200 Fish Hatchery Rd to be recycled. If your book can still be used, consider donating to your local library, charity, secondhand store, or Little Free Library. Check out answers to common recycling questions and see local guidelines at sustaindane.org/better and on social media #recyclebetter

According to #Goodwill, there are 7 great reasons to donate clothing and other items: 🥇”When You #DonateClothing, You’re Reducing #Consumerism and Waste: Americans throw away more than 68 pounds of #clothing and #textiles, per person, each year. That’s a lot of waste! When you donate clothing instead, you’re reducing your #carbonfootprint and doing your part to make the world a healthier place. You might not think you’re making a huge difference, but if everyone donates clothes worthy of a second home, it could substantially reduce the amount of waste that ends up in our landfills.” ReignBow ReNEWed starts its GIVE 2 DRIVE donation campaign on August 25. We look forward to your #donations! GOT QUESTIONS? https://bit.ly/Give2Drive OR (833) 727-3639.
