Thanks to those of you who joined us for yesterday's Member Discussion on Public Notification Systems! It was a small but mighty group talking about the benefits and challenges of different Public Notification Systems, and how to use them effectively. We also explored some of the alternatives to what would be considered more "traditional" Public Notification Systems, including some emerging communications tools that have proven effective to Municipal Communicators. If your community hasn't yet considered a Public Notification System, it's probably time to at least look into one. They're an incredibly helpful tool for organizations looking at how best to get information in front of residents, meeting them where they are and removing barriers to access. If it's an area that interests you and you don't know where to start, send us an email at admin@thecamc.ca, and we can help you out or set you up with another CAMC Member who has experience with different systems and using them effectively. Together, we can do more 🙌 #localgovernment #localgov #MunicipalCommunications

Do you have October 15th marked on your calendar? One of the many benefits of the CAMC is the opportunity for peer-to-peer support, mentorship, advice, resources, and networking. Open conversation amongst like-minded peers is so valuable for an industry in which there are common challenges and obstacles that are shared amongst municipalities across the country; and in which there are so many teams of one (or few). So, take part in the conversation! Bring your concerns, challenges, solutions, thoughts, and ideas for how to move forward with social media effectively for your organization and your community. Together, we can do more 🙌 #localgovernment #localgov #municipalcommunications #CAMC

Listening to people talk about the world that they want is one of the most amazing parts of my job. When you ask "What should be?" you're asking people to commit to something, even if just for that moment. This year I asked "What should the purpose of the public service be and who should it serve?" Have a read of our latest discussion paper to find out what people said.
A public service that is Wise, Warm and Willing? Yes please! In 2024 we began asking people “what should the purpose of the public service be, and who should it serve?” We heard that people want a public service that: ♥️ cares for people and place by creating contexts for communities to thrive in, understanding and preempting challenges, meeting individual needs and acting as a safety net during individual or collective crises. ♥️ acts as an enabler for people to participate in their own democracy by ensuring transparency of process, trusting the expertise present in communities and enabling communities to care for each other and themselves. In essence, we collectively imagined a public service that is Wise, Warm and Willing. It’s exciting stuff and the time for this thinking is now. Have a read - https://lnkd.in/gxRMFyXA
