Great discussion today with Michael DePrisco, President & CEO of the IMA | Institute of Management Accountants, on the Journey to the C-Suite. A lot of practical advice, some military/sea stories, and a little bit of levity. And, if this video proves anything, hair style is not a determining factor in achieving a #CEO position! Thanks to the IMA for hosting the event and to all the participants for their commitment to professional development and growth in their organizations. #CEO #CEO #IMA #ASMC #financialmanagement #strategy #decisionmaking #communication #resilience #upskilling #talentmanagement #riskmanagement #organizationalexcellence #valuecreation

The sacred relationship between the Board and the CFO Many CFOs wonder if they're showing up the way they should be at the Board table. In fact, some CFOs still ask me how they can get a seat consistently at the board table. We know the board's job is all about strategic governance and as part of that role, they identify the CEO that they need to take care of the strategic positioning of the business. The CFOs job, along with the rest of the C-suite, is all about ensuring strategic execution. However, the unique perspective that the CFO can bring to the board table is that of the investor. In fact, when the Board is supported by a top CFO they create the opportunity to cultivate ultimate investor trust. In fact, they create a business that every person and every company wants to invest in. In the 2024 CFO Annual Report, I discuss how the CFO, as the most important voice at the table can leverage the organisation to legacy through being that voice of the investor. If you're a CFO and want to learn more about how to bring the voice of the investor to your board table, comment "Y" below and we'll send you a copy of the 2024 CFO Annual Report.

Why CFOs Speak What's Right, Not Just What's Pleasant In a world often swayed by the allure of agreeableness, authentic leadership stands out as a beacon of integrity and truth. Nowhere is this more evident than in the role of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). A. Fostering Trust: Trust is the cornerstone of any successful organization. CFOs who speak truthfully, even when it's uncomfortable, demonstrate their commitment to transparency and accountability. B. Mitigating Risk: Sugarcoating financial realities may offer temporary relief, but it ultimately exacerbates risk. By addressing challenges head-on and communicating them honestly, CFOs empower their teams to confront issues proactively, mitigating potential crises before they escalate. C. Safeguarding Long-Term Growth: Pleasantries may yield short-term gains, but they rarely contribute to sustainable growth. CFOs who speak truthfully help steer their organizations towards decisions that prioritize long-term viability over fleeting victories. The role of the CFO transcends mere number-crunching; it embodies the principles of authenticity and integrity. #AuthenticLeadership #CFOInsights #IntegrityInAction #ceo #owner #founder #finance #numbersmatter
