Since its earliest days, CIL has spearheaded advocacy towards securing the resources and rights that people with disabilities need in order to navigate a world that is inaccessible, and to establish and maintain the ability to live and work independently and in community. During the uncertain times ahead, CIL commits to increasing our role in bringing people together; defending these hard-won rights through advocacy and movement building; supporting and coordinating mutual aid for practical resources that might become threatened; and continuing our programming regardless of threats to the federal funding that supports them. We need your support to do this. Please help us raise an additional $100,000 to match a generous gift from Supervisor Carson. Our donors make it possible to not only weather these hard times but to advance our work in spite of them. Thank you for considering an end-of-year donation CIL. 💜 [Image Description] CIL's Jessica Lehman speaking into a mic at a protest. Really important key points from OPD Fight For Right 🇺🇦 about replacing pity porn with a rights and justice-based approach to eliminating institutionalization and supporting people with disabilities.
During Christmas, blogger and influencer Olena Mandziuk and veteran and Ukrainian TV-star (Bachelor TV show) Oleksandr “Teren” Budko visited the Vynohradiv Psychoneurological Institution in Khmelnytskyi region, where over 270 men and women are institutionalised, many of them have disabilities. They brought gifts for women—red roses, embroidered blouses, sweets and various household items. Olena also initiated a fundraising campaign to equip the institution with a laundry room and a library. At first glance, these actions seem like a kind and festive initiative. However, upon closer examination, this approach perpetuates an outdated, paternalistic charitable model of disability that frames people with disabilities as victims requiring pity, sympathy, and care, rather than as individuals with rights and autonomy. Here’s why Fight For Right finds this form of charity unacceptable: https://lnkd.in/d8ekwxiu

GiveOUT Day donations are OPEN – and guess what? Your donations are doubled! 😱 We know times are tough at the moment, and we know how much you all want to continue supporting our work. We appreciate every kind message, every donation, every time you tell someone about us. We see all your efforts, and we honestly can't thank you enough. Days like GiveOUT Day are so helpful, because even if you're only able to give a small amount – it's doubled through dollar matching. So a little goes an extra long way. A few moths ago, our events were targeted by anti-LGBTQIA+ groups. Or rigorous safety procedures are already so robust and our number one priority, but the reality is – the costs associated have tripled in recent years. We need your help to keep our queer youth safe. Your donations this GiveOUT Day will help fund youth safety. Again, we can't thank you enough for everything you do to support us and champion LGBTQIA+ youth all year round. Donate now: https://buff.ly/3BEr9nS

Our Philosophy at InclusiveLens Global Foundation If you think we're working on inclusion to generate profit or donations, you're mistaken. We're not constantly seeking donations; instead, we seek great minds to mold average and disabled minds. I'm not using "disabled minds" in a derogatory way, but as a logical notion. When people and their minds can't recognize diverse abilities and label individuals as disabled, that's what I call a "disabled mind." In a conversation with a friend, I realized that we're all different, and we should embrace these differences rather than labeling them as disabilities. If Scheduled Tribes or Scheduled Castes don't label themselves as untouchable, why should we label them as disabled? They're capable of doing everything that anyone else can; they just do it differently, which often requires creativity, innovation, and out-of-the-box thinking. So, if you want to contribute, donate your time and skills with an open mind. We don't believe in traditional NGO models. While monetary donations are necessary for smooth operations, we primarily need people and networks to build a new, independent generation, free from orthodox beliefs and stereotypes. Ready to make a difference? Join us today and become part of our mission for a more inclusive world. Fill out this form: https://lnkd.in/dkbjiQ9s

Hi friends, I cannot let Giving Tuesday pass without asking for your support of the important work of Kidz2Leaders! Kidz2Leaders is growing tremendously as we intend to serve more children and families impacted by parental incarceration. Studies show that these kids are three times more likely than their peers to become involved with the justice system at some point in their lives. By investing in long-term relationships with their families, this cycle can be broken. We know our decade of programming is successful. 99% of those who’ve been through more than half our programming are living free of incarceration. Additionally, 82% report that they are living free of any government assistance and 84% have gone on to post-secondary education. You can learn more by watching this short video: https://lnkd.in/e7xF5ph6 Will you please donate today so that we can serve more of the 200,000 kids in GA impacted by this trauma? I'd also appreciate your sharing this with your friends, family, and other networks.

Check out the post below for exciting updates from The B.L.U.E. House!
Hello! I know that the page has been quiet lately, but we have been very busy in the background and have made some significant progress on getting The B.L.U.E. House closer to our goals! We now have an amazing Board of Directors that has been meeting regularly to help establish our goals and priorities. Our Board of Directors consisits of professionals with vast experience across multiple fields, and The B.L.U.E. House is so grateful for the ways that they have already been able to contribute to the cause. While we do not have a physical location at this time, we will be working to establish outreach efforts in the community while we raise the funds needed to create the drop-in center that we have been dreaming of. We recently created a Venmo account for the business, and are encouraging anyone who is willing to donate to use the QR code in the image below to find us. Every donation, despite the size, gets us closer to our goal of providing comprehensive services to adult survivors of sex trafficking, sexual exploitation, and those at risk within the seven-county metro area of Minnesota. Another exciting update is that we have completed our application for 501c3 status, and once it has been reviewed, it will be ready to submit!

Over the next year we look forward to sharing with members further information on how the club’s financial support for local organizations truly makes a difference. Here’ one such organization, in their own words. The Transformative Justice Center is a 501c3 non-profit with a direct focus on working with incarcerated individuals and celebrating incarcerated voices, lives, and talents. Within the center is housed Empathy In Action - Transformative Justice Center (see photo), an inside-out educational exchange program where members from the public are invited into CTF (Correctional Training Facility) Soledad to learn, heal, and grow with the incarcerated residents. The Transformative Justice Center is a charitable organization, relying 100% on donations and grants in order to function and expand. Your donations will go towards purchasing materials and supplies for 200 incarcerated residents as well as hosting the end-of-session graduation ceremony. Additional donations and grants will go towards the leasing of a building downtown Monterey that will serve as a physical center for incarcerated voices. We plan to construct a prison cell and offer the public a very unique, transformative, and immersive experience exploring the lives of incarcerated folks across the nation. In short, our work is rooted in the belief that all people are worthy of healing and connection and all people have a core self that is wise, good, beautiful, and pure. Somewhere down the line of nearly every incarcerated person's life they forgot this fact and no one in their lives were able to remind them. We do this weekly in Empathy in Action, a program said to be the most powerful offering at CTF.
