Since 2017, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Indonesia, in collaboration with various stakeholders, has been committed to advancing a just transition in plastic waste collection programs. These efforts laid the foundation for inclusive and responsible practices well before global discussions intensified. As we approach INC-5, it is clear that solving the global plastic crisis requires systemic change — it demands a fundamental change in behavior, attitude, and shared responsibility across the entire ecosystem. We must acknowledge the critical role of informal waste workers and collectively drive action that ensures they are supported, protected, and empowered as central actors in a circular economy.
