How “ECONOMIC MOATS” is helpful in my internship role Portfolio Management? First, let’s understand the term “ECONOMIC MOATS” An economic moat refers to a competitive advantage that a company has over its competitors, allowing it to protect its market share and profitability over the long term. The term originates from Warren Buffett, who likened these advantages to the protective moats surrounding castles. Economic moats can be derived from various factors such as 1. Brand strength 2. High barriers to entry 3. Economies of scale 4. Network effects 5. Intellectual property rights (like patents andtrademarks), and switching costs for customers. Companies like software, Retail, Pharmaceuticals used this concept. So, how is this helpful for me in this internship? As, My role is to manage the portfolios and analyse the traditional and modern assets for investment purposes, this is very helpful for me to know the competitive advantage of the various companies in different sectors. It gives me edge over their profitability,Beta and fundamental analysis of the company. Through this I can decide where and how much to invest and align my investment objectives with this. By incorporating economic moats into analysis, it captures the long term growth opportunities. Fundsresearch #Portfolio #Internship

🌱 How can a (young - am I still young?) #university Assistant Professor make a positive #impact? Here's an example from my experience: a) I integrated real #strategies for social innovation and social entrepreneurship, providing students with valuable insights into these critical areas. b) I invited Rethink Ireland as a #GuestSpeaker. They shared their strategies, challenges, and future opportunities with my students. Notably, they also presented an exciting internship opportunity. c) As a result, one of my #students applied for the internship and successfully secured the position. Takeaways: 1. 👨🏻🏫 Teach current and relevant strategies: Study and research what is pertinent to our society and bring that knowledge into the classroom. 2. 🔗 Connect with the world outside academia: Collaborate and invite guest speakers from industry experts to provide real-world opportunities. = win-win-win for academia, industry and students! It's rewarding to see the immediate positive impact on my students' careers and their contributions to social innovation!
🌟 Exciting Announcement! 🌟 I'm delighted to share that I have secured an internship as Social Impact Intern at Rethink Ireland! This role offers a unique opportunity to engage deeply in the impact investing sector, where I will conduct market research, evaluate investment opportunities, and develop financial models to assess and enhance social initiatives. This internship is a perfect complement to my MSc in Management Consultancy, allowing me to apply and expand my project management skills in a dynamic and impactful environment. A heartfelt thank you to Mario Vottero and Katia Ribeiro-Pulvenis for the smooth onboarding process and for guiding me throughout. I am also immensely grateful to Professor Giuliano Sansone, whose mentorship and guidance in the CIE class have been instrumental in achieving this milestone. I'm eager to contribute to a team dedicated to creating positive social change and look forward to the experiences and growth this opportunity will bring. #Internship #ImpactInvesting #RethinkIreland #ManagementConsultancy #ProjectManagement #SocialChange #ProfessionalGrowth #Grateful #CareerDevelopment

During my MBA summer internship, I had the opportunity to visit & explore through 13 vibrant cities for market research. Travelling solo pushed me out of my comfort zone. It was my first time in corporate, consumer market and in solo travel as well. 🚀 Here's how those experiences shaped me: - The confidence I gained after figuring out accommodation, local transport, and food in a completely new place was next level - it made me feel like I could conquer anything. - I met a lot of new people each day and learned how to start conversations with anyone. - I got a Reality Check: Data sheets are valuable, but nothing beats the raw experience of being on the ground. I learned it firsthand. - I started understanding myself better because I made choices and decisions about how to spend time all by myself in a new city after work. - Financial Wisdom: Managing expenses wisely became a necessity, teaching me the importance of financial prudence and mindful spending. 💙 The best part - Each experience altered my perspective, enabling me to see the world through new lenses and appreciate its nuances. #SummerInternship #SalesandMarketing #SIP #MBA #corporate #job #IIM

Summer Sights: A Tale of My Summer Internship (27/30) 🏢 Make sure not to miss this...❌ While working on the end review PPT, I realized something and wanted to share it with all of you. As a part of a Summer Internship Program, you are mostly expected to recommend and consult the company on a particular project. Here is where the MBA instinct takes over and rules our decisions and proposals. This instinct might turn out to be wrong for the project that you are working on. Allow me to explain: For a minute, put yourself in the shoes of the management of the organization that you are working for. The people who will be looking at your end review to decide on the implementation of your project. And who doesn't want their project to be implemented, right? Do you really think that your decision on their behalf would make them happy? What I have realized while working on my project is that as you reach a place in your project where decision-making is required, providing the management with options rather than decisions is what makes more sense. For a fact, we all know that management knows more about the business than we do, and hence, they make the right decisions. Therefore, creating a flexible game plan for your project can help you differentiate from others and increase the chances of implementation.📈 And this applies everywhere. Who doesn't enjoy autonomy? Everyone does. By providing the management with the desired autonomy, you demonstrate trust in their decision-making and your abilities. This trust can lead to a more fulfilling work experience where you feel your contributions are making a difference.✨ #DCM #DCMShriram #SummerAtDCM #SummerInternship2024 #MBA #Flexibility
