We know some people really don't care, but using the right font can make such a difference... So we decided to make a series of posts about our favorite Google fonts. Enjoy "Part 1" and feel free to let us know what your favorite fonts are down in the comments! Montserrat - Every designer’s favorite geometric font out there. You’ll see it in many Headlines & Font Logos. Honestly, you’ll see it almost everywhere… Lora - A beautiful serif with calligraphy roots. Use it if your design allows for larger paragraphs and/ or if you just want to achieve a more “vintage” look & feel. Cormorant Garamond - Specifically made for “reading”. You’ve probably read books that used it and didn’t realize until now. Claude Garamond was a French type designer who lived during the 16th century. Cormorant is a “revival” or a “modern take” of his typefaces. P.S. Google “Garamond” to see something cool! 😎 Inter - We’ve used it in almost every “product design” we’ve done. It just works for tech products (most of the time). Easily readable sans-serif, not really pretentious or “weird” looking. Just a modern, nice, clean font. That’s it! (yes, we like it) Poppins - Another sans-serif. A little rounder, but not too round… Ideal for Headlines / Titles, but if you ask us, avoid using it in paragraphs. Playfair Display - Another serif, a bit more “extreme” than the others. We like it because it’s very easy to combine with other sans-serif fonts and it has a very pretty “italic”. #b2b #typography #fonts #googlefonts #branding #brands #marketing #web #design #montserrat #lora #cormorant #inter #playfair #poppins

Now that’s design thinking.
Co-Founder: Indian Type Foundry (ITF); Founder: Bézier, Fontstore, and Fontshare. Type & Graphic Design. NID (Ahmedabad) Alum.
I’ve always seen type design as more than just a functional craft—it’s a powerful medium for creative exploration. While my work at ITF focuses on designing utilitarian fonts for commercial use, I’ve recently prioritised delving into a more personal and expressive side of type design through conceptual lettering. Some of you may have seen these explorations on my Instagram, but I’ve decided to share select pieces here on LinkedIn as well. Here’s one of them: English / हिन्दी I’ve transformed 'English' into 'हिन्दी,' altering both the form and the language using only the original elements—nothing added, removed, flipped, or distorted. I custom-designed the letters so that both words could be formed simply by rearranging and rotating the same elements, without any further modifications. My goal was to maintain as much legibility as possible within these constraints. While the Hindi may appear somewhat stylised, every element was used exactly as-is. If you’d like to see more of these explorations, feel free to follow me on Instagram.

Freshly Pressed: Oluseyi Olusanya on getting into type design, founding Afrotype, and collaborating with Google Fonts. In April, Google Fonts announced the addition of Tac One, a single-weight, bold Sans Serif typeface, designed by Afrotype—a Lagos-based type studio founded by Seyi—to its catalogue. One month later (in May), it also announced the addition of Danfo, a tuscan serif font inspired by vinyl stickers on the ubiquitous Danfo buses of Lagos, another typeface designed by Afrotype to its catalogue. In a conversation with The Creatives Note, Oluseyi Olusanya, the founder of Afrotype, talks about getting into type design, founding Afrotype, and collaborating with Google Fonts. “I learnt a lot about the type design process. I also learnt a lot about asking the right questions," he tells The Creatives Note, speaking on his experience working on the project with Google Fonts. "It was very tedious working on two typefaces (Tac and Danfo) at the same time...It was a crazy crash course into type design that turned us into type soldiers.” Visit https://lnkd.in/ekkPCVNr to read about Seyi's journey into type design. #creativesnote #TCNInterview #Afrotype #GoogleFonts #DanfoTypeface #TacFont #DanfoStd #Tac #Typography #TacTypeface #Typographer #AfricanType #NigerianTypeDesigner #AfricanTypeDesign #TypeDesign #AfricanTypeDesigner #TypeDesignInAfrica #AfricanTypeface #TypeDesigner

Cairo is a contemporary Arabic and Latin font family. Mohamed Gaber extended the famous Latin typeface family Titillum Web to support the Arabic script, with a design that is based on the Kufi calligraphic style. Cairo balances classic and contemporary tastes with wide open counters and short ascenders and descenders that minimize length while maintaining easy readability. The lighter weights can be used for body text while the heavier weights are perfect for headlines and display typography. Each font includes stylistic ligatures and the Arabic component has a wide glyph set that supports the Arabic, Farsi, and Urdu languages. Cairo also comes in two variants, the usual monochrome variants as well as a color variant "Cairo-PLAY". The color variants are color fonts where the colors are defined by the font itself. Support for color font is currently limited to few applications like Google Chrome (version 98 or later) and FontGoggles (version 1.4.0 or later). The Cairo project is led by Mohamed Gaber, a type designer based in Cairo, Egypt. To contribute, see https://lnkd.in/gdZwqvKq https://lnkd.in/gd73D9aW

Okay, I'll be the first to admit that I used to NOT CARE AT ALL about what fonts were used in anything ... 🤷 as long as everything was done FAST and it WORKED. I'm also going to admit that NOW... I ABSOLUTELY CARE what fonts we use and we usually think very carefully about it! 🖋️ Typography can 100% change how a brand is perceived! So tell me... are you like my past self or are you also think typography can make it or break it all? 🤔 #typography #fonts #webfonts #googlefonts #branding #brands #marketing #design #web #b2b
