Be nice to yourself: self-compassion. It’s World Mental Health Day, and while we’re all about talking therapy, mindfulness, and reaching out for support, there’s one topic that doesn’t get enough airtime: self-compassion! That’s right-being nice to yourself because let’s face it, we’re often our own worst critics. Let’s break it down: Self-criticism = Stress mode activated: When you’re constantly hard on yourself, you’re triggering your body’s stress response. It’s like hitting the gas pedal on a car that’s already stuck in traffic—zero progress, a lot of frustration, and probably a bit of road rage (but in your head) 🚨 Self-compassion = chill mode on: When you treat yourself with kindness, it’s like turning on the “relaxation” button in your brain. You’re activating the parasympathetic nervous system—AKA, the part that says, “Hey, it’s all good. We’re not fighting off tigers today.” ✨ So, flip the script.
