“If you could share one piece of career advice for young professionals, what would it be?” Me: “Trust your vision. Intuition and expertise strengthen through years, as you navigate tough situations successfully and build up your track record. But to make powerful decisions early on, confidence is essential—even if it doesn’t feel natural. Sometimes even a mediocre decision is better than indecision, and the cost of self-doubt can be higher than just backing yourself (given that you’re done your homework with data&facts). In my books, this applies not only to career advancement but also to product leadership, entrepreneurship, and even relationships." It was a pleasure discussing career progression, leadership, cross-disciplinary talent and male-dominant fields with students at Aalto University. Thanks for having me!

📊 From static MBA to transformational experience? The traditional MBA paradigm is undergoing a seismic shift in 2024. What used to be a straightforward business degree has evolved into a multi-dimensional journey where #GenerativeAI, #Sustainability, and #TechLiteracy are no longer optional add-ons but core pillars. I'm seeing a fascinating transformation in how future leaders are being shaped. It's no longer about collecting knowledge (freely available online!) but about experiencing transformative, multi-location learning experiences that blends: • AI-powered learning stacks • Circular economy principles • Tech-savvy leadership • Narrative-driven approaches • Multi-destination immersion What strikes me most is the fundamental shift from seeking skills to seeking sense - today's MBA candidates hunger for programs that align values with business impact. They're asking: "How can I make a difference while making a profit?" The most compelling evolution? The emergence of what I call "#simplexity" - the art of making complex tech concepts accessible to non-tech stakeholders. This is becoming a crucial leadership superpower in our world where uncertainty and new technology seemingly rise in lock-step (even if correlation is not causation!). The future MBA looks more like a global odyssey than a classroom experience. Think French croissants in Paris, innovation workshops in Silicon Valley, and sustainability projects in Barcelona - all while mastering #ResponsibleTechnology and #CircularEconomy principles. Here's what keeps me up at night: Are we moving fast enough to prepare leaders for a world where uncertainty is the only certainty? How do we ensure our #FutureLeaders can navigate both technological advancement and human-centric leadership? Our answer is the #LeadTech Executive MBA (delivered in 8 weeks of immersion in Barcelona, Paris, San Francisco and Singapour). Thoughts on this transformation of business education? What skills do you think tomorrow's leaders need most? What skills have become irrelevant? École des Ponts Business School École des Ponts Business School - Africa Campus ReTech Center #keeplearning

Recently had the privilege of delivering a keynote address to the #Singapore Curtin University Alumni. Grateful for the opportunity to reconnect with an institution that has significantly influenced my path. Here are a few reflections shared: · My unconventional career path, balancing full-time work with part-time studies at Curtin University, has led to unexpected twists and turns since completing my #MBA in 2010. Embracing unpredictability and being open to new opportunities have been key in navigating these transitions. · Throughout my career, the ability to overcome challenges, recognizing personal agency, and the importance of mentorship have played pivotal roles. Choosing roles based on my interests, ability to continuously learn, and maximizing impact have been my guiding principles so far. · As we stand at the crossroads of sustainability, industry transformation, and artificial intelligence, we're driving cross industry innovation and change. Adapting to new insights and challenges will be crucial in these evolving fields. A couple of final thoughts. Remember, your career is more than titles or organizations—it's about how you present yourself, take risks, and create a legacy. Stay curious, resilient, and true to your values whether you find yourself navigating industry disruptions, advancing sustainability, or mentoring future leaders. Thrilled to announce that I was selected for the prestigious Global Governance Initiative's Impact MBA fellowship, with <5% acceptance rate out of over 15,000 applicants! This fellowship is not your typical MBA program. It's a transformative journey that delves deep into diverse fields like product management, policy consulting, liberal arts, impact investing, AI, and sustainability through masterclasses and hands-on experiences. The 'learning by doing' approach wasn't just a slogan here – it was a way of life. From lively Zoom breakout rooms to real-world applications, every session pushed us to grow and innovate. As someone who believes in the power of collaboration, it was inspiring to work closely with like-minded peers from diverse backgrounds. Together, we tackled challenges, solved cases, and even participated in startup weekend! And the weekends? Hectic, yes. But oh-so-worthwhile! From assignments to speaker sessions featuring top leaders from renowned organizations such as BCG, Bain, McKinsey, Amazon, the World Economic Forum, and more, each moment was a golden opportunity for growth. Completing the first three months of this fellowship has been an incredible journey of self-discovery and growth. Thank you so much, Shatakshi Sharma and Naman Shrivastava, for entrusting me with this incredible opportunity! Can't wait to implement my learnings to continue leveraging my skills in impact consulting to contribute meaningfully, particularly within the education sector and beyond. Stay tuned for more insights and learnings from my GGI experience as I embark on this exciting chapter. 💡✨ #impact #MBA #fellowship #collaboration #consulting #education #governmentconsulting #sustainability #policy #impactinvesting #networking #learningbydoing

I am thrilled to announce that I completed my MBA at Columbia Business School last weekend—a journey that has been surreal, incredibly rewarding, and life-changing over the past two years. This milestone feels almost dreamlike, a testament to the diverse and enriching courses that have profoundly shaped my understanding and abilities. One standout experience was the Management Consulting Lab (MCL) with Joe Timko and Toos Daruvala, where I had the privilege of working with Latino-led entrepreneurial firms in the U.S. Applying my consulting skills in such real-world settings has significantly broadened my perspective. Esohe Omoruyi and Michael Brown's Digital Disruption and Technology Transformation course gave me in-depth insights into navigating digital changes across various industries, further improving my strategic acumen. In Dan Wang's Technology Strategy course, I explored the strategic management of technology, investigating how to commercialize innovations and respond to disruptive changes. Mabel Abraham's Power, Influence, and Networks course was particularly transformative, equipping me with the critical tools to map organizational power dynamics and exercise influence effectively. Reflecting on this journey, I am immensely grateful to my professors, including Gaia Marchisio, Modupe Akinola, and others, who have been pivotal in my growth. My heartfelt thanks extend to the CBS Africa Business Club, Henry Obih, Earl Simpkins, and John Mabry, PMP, whose support has been a cornerstone of my success. The encouragement and wisdom they have shared have been invaluable. I'm excited about the possibilities of using these insights to advance my career as I move into the future of work with the help of this incredible support system. If you seek guidance on navigating the terrain of an MBA or wish to discuss potential collaborations, please connect with me on LinkedIn. I am happy to explore how we can work together. #MBA #Graduation #DigitalTransformation #TechnologyStrategy #Leadership

Carl Jung once said, “The world will ask you who you are, and if you don’t know, the world will tell you.” It’s a quote that hits home every time I think about it. It nudges us to pause and ask ourselves—how much of who we are is truly our own, and how much comes from the expectations of others, the culture we grow up in, or the people we surround ourselves with? From a young age, we unknowingly take on ideas, beliefs, and habits from our environment. It’s only natural—they shape how we see ourselves and navigate the world. And while there’s comfort in staying close to what feels familiar, there’s a flip side. What do we miss when we limit ourselves to sameness? What opportunities for growth, new perspectives, and untapped potential do we overlook? For me, stepping beyond those invisible boundaries hasn’t always been easy, but it’s always been worth it. Starting a new job, launching a project, or even trying a new hobby—it can feel overwhelming at first, especially with the fear of judgment or failure looming large. But here’s the thing: every new experience, even the tough ones, holds lessons that shape us in unexpected ways. As I addressed on my first day as MBA Programme Manager at one of the top global business schools University of Southampton Business School, I shared this thought with a group of ambitious MBA executives embarking on their journey: “You’ve already taken a bold step by joining this programme. Don’t stop there. Don’t build new walls for yourself.” This journey isn’t just about earning a degree or ticking off an accomplishment—it’s about becoming the protagonist of your own story. Embrace the diversity of perspectives around you. Learn from others who see the world differently. Immerse yourself in new cultures and ideas. This openness won’t just make you a better professional; it will shape you into a self-aware, empathetic, and forward-thinking leader—someone who can inspire and innovate in any path you choose. Because at the end of the day, if you don’t define who you are, the world will decide for you. So why not take the reins? Be brave. Be curious. Be ready to evolve. #MBA #Curiosity #selfawareness #diversity #empathetic #forwardthinking

Congratulations - Graduates, Emerging Leaders, and Young Professionals! I am thrilled you are embarking on your next journey, be it your career, continued education, entrepreneurship, or otherwise. As a higher education professional and educator in the international realm, here are my nuggets of advice that can help you navigate your early years in the workforce: - Be open to learning: Your first job or project might be challenging, but it is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience, learn new skills, and develop your professional network. During your time, ask questions and take on new challenges. It is an opportunity to grow and develop your skills. - Build relationships: Networking is vital to developing a successful career. Take time to build relationships with colleagues, managers, and mentors. Attend networking events, join professional organizations, and seek opportunities to connect with others in your industry. - Be patient and focused: Success is a journey, not a destination. Set practical and realistic goals for yourself and take small daily steps to achieve them. Setbacks are part of the process, so use them as opportunities to learn and grow. These are lessons I have learned along my journey, and I wish I had been given this advice over two decades ago when I graduated and was starting my journey. Remember, your life and career paths are journeys enriched by wise choices. You define success and comes with a commitment to adaptability and lifelong learning #emergingleaders #youngprofessionals #graduates #nextgen #lifelonglearning #adaptability #careeradvice #highered #globalhighered #higheredconsulting #expatcoaching #expatcareercoaching #goglobal #thecareerexpat #roseappleglobal
