Interesting, but not overly surprising, recent TechRound article highlights how AI will shape PR in 2024, but also emphasises the continued need for human connection. The danger lies in over-reliance on AI without critical (human) review. It's a tool, not a replacement for the insightful, creative, and original human mind. The problem we have is that too many people are beginning to rely (be lazy) on AI for general tasks without checking the results. The pitfalls in basic comms tasks range from sloppy content, to plagiarism, etc. https://lnkd.in/etJKfxbN Key points raised are: ▪ 𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗲: We can expect AI to play a bigger role in streamlining tasks, content generation, and data analysis. ▪ 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: AI is a powerful tool, but ethics and human creativity will remain central to successful PR strategies. ▪ 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁: Trust and empathy will be critical for building strong relationships with stakeholders. ▪ 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮-𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Measuring results through data and analytics will be more important than ever. #PR #FutureofPR #Communications #ArtificialIntelligence #AI #Trust #DataDriven #crisicommunications #corporatecommunications

Artificial intelligence was nearly tied with corporate responsibility as the top #PR trend that respondents expect to see grow over the next three years. The top uses of AI are all content-centric, such as creating media pitches and copy. Generative AI is also used to take a single piece of content and create different iterations for various audiences. As Michele Ewing, APR, Fellow PRSA, wrote in the September 2023 issue of Strategies & Tactics, introducing artificial intelligence to public relations could bring many advantages. However, AI also raises ethical dilemmas such as factual errors, misinformation, biases, social consequences, and problems with transparency, privacy and data security. ~ David Olson via Public Relations Society of America (PRSA)

So, we did it, our newest AI Assistant for PR professionals is live. Let's start with the elephant in the room: AI. Yes, that AI. The one that's been threatening to take our jobs, make us redundant and so on. And here's the million-dollar question: Is this going to replace the creativity and intuition of human PR pros? Absolutely not. Think of it as more of a dynamic duo where the human touch is irreplaceable, but the AI makes everything cooler, faster and lets you be more creative. https://lnkd.in/gxU2Hu_2

“AI is the most embarrassing thing we’ve invented during man’s timeline on earth,” "This seems to be the justification for AI: ‘I couldn’t do it.” This was one of the most eye opening remarks from Jerry Seinfeld's commencement speech Duke University last week. But, it's not just a celebrity like Seinfeld who is not a fan of ChatGPT and AI solutions. Some regulators, companies and individuals are concerned about the use of an AI solution in lieu of human beings for both large and small things. There's also a lot of ongoing debate about whether companies will eliminate the use of an pr/marketing agency or limit their existing scope and have their use ChatGPT for campaigns and content purposes. Like many other industries, this is both a cause for concern and an opportunity for growth as well. Simply, I believe that ChatGPT and other AI tools can be utilized appropriately by everybody in the greater marketing/pr ecosystem, but it should never be used in lieu of genuine creativity, thought-leadership, instincts, real-time issues team work, and old fashioned hard work. Given that AI is ubiquitous, we will continue to see this debate unfold overtime, but everyone in our industry will have to determine its limits and what role it plays in their daily work. I really enjoyed this article from Thomas Faust on how agencies can win the AI battle. https://lnkd.in/eggN9v5i I'd love to hear from my network on this subject. How are you using AI at your firm or within your company? What are the pros and cons? #Ai #chatgpt #pr #communications #corporatecommunications #marketing #content #humans #hardwork #ingenuity #teamwork
