𝗢𝗻 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟲𝘁𝗵, the 3rd European Conference On Tunnel Renovation will take place, during which Stefano Guanziroli will hold the workshop "𝘼𝙪𝙩𝙤𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙩𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙞𝙦𝙪𝙚 – 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚" 𝙖𝙩 𝟯:𝟬𝟬 𝙋𝙈. The conference addresses the topic of tunnel renovation, focusing on common challenges in the European infrastructure network. It will aim to answer questions related to the professional management of tunnel resources and what the focal points should be for the next decade. The discussions will focus on exploring innovative and unified strategies for optimizing underground spaces, as well as analyzing some critical issues in the infrastructure sector, such as staff shortages and the complexity of digital integration. In this context, Hinfra will participate in the "𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙥 𝙄𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨" section, which explores both current and emerging innovations aimed at speeding up tunnel renovation works while reducing risks for those involved. Stefano Guanziroli, drawing from Hinfra's extensive know-how, particularly in automated concrete techniques, will present the example of 𝗘𝗧𝗟𝗥 (𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻) technology. He will explain how it was implemented through the construction of a full-scale extrusion plant, where the main components of the ETLR train are designed, produced, and tested. This international event will take place in Belgium at the Room with a Zoo in Antwerp. #tunnel #italy #Belgium #ETLR #concrete

Even when WE (Steven Winter Associates) aren’t presenting, we are “presented”. The ever incredible Paul Ormond presenting at the Boston Society for Architecture’s Wagdy Anis (Building Enclosure) Symposium how the efforts we make as building performance implementers can have game-changing effects to grid modification (a point I have made in other arenas tackling the “costs of grid modernization” discussion—the costs are dispersed with better performance in buildings).

The recent IBC conference in San Antonio attracted several engineers and construction professionals from all over the world to discuss (among other important topics) the importance of bridge safety as we move further into the decade. 🔥 A huge takeaway is that the field of Corrosion Monitoring continues to grow and adapt. With infrastructure aging and the demand for sustainable development increasing, the focus on maintaining and improving bridge safety is more critical than ever. 💡 In 2024, advancements in technology have significantly enhanced the way we monitor and maintain bridges. Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) systems have become more sophisticated, providing real-time data that helps in the early detection of potential issues. These systems are now an integral part of bridge safety protocols, ensuring that any signs of corrosion or structural weakness are identified and addressed promptly. 🏗 Corrosion monitoring has also seen significant improvements. New technologies allow for more precise detection of corrosion, even in areas that are difficult to inspect manually. This is crucial for the longevity of bridges, as corrosion is a leading cause of deterioration in bridge structures. The integration of these technologies into bridge maintenance routines has revolutionized the field. For instance, the Great Belt Bridge in Denmark {PICTURE BELOW} benefits from an advanced SHM system that continuously measures and tracks the structural resistance of the bridge. This kind of proactive monitoring can prevent catastrophic failures and extend the life of bridge structures. Moreover, past conferences like the International Conference on Bridge Maintenance, Safety and Management (IABMAS) continue to play a pivotal role in sharing knowledge and best practices across the globe. The 2022 conference in Barcelona brought together experts to discuss recent research progress and the future of bridge-related topics. As we look to the future, the safety of our bridges remains a top priority. With ongoing research and the application of advanced monitoring technologies, we can expect our bridges to be safer and more resilient against the challenges of corrosion and structural wear. The commitment to bridge safety and corrosion monitoring in 2024 reflects our dedication to protecting both the public and our valuable infrastructure assets. #iotsolutions #cloudreporting4corrosion #earlywarningsystem #rfidtechnology Don Kline Katherine Farley, P.E.
