🟡 How to transition to a career in social impact—and thrive Lately, I've been hearing from more people wanting to transition to a career in social impact. This reminds me of when I was picking my own path. It was daunting. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗸𝗲𝗽𝘁 𝗺𝗲 𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱: ➟ 🟡 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗺𝘆 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀. This belief became the core of how I built my career (even when facing some challenges—but that's another post). Moving to an impact-oriented role might seem challenging for mid-level professionals, but it’s doable! 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂: 1. Identify your passion: What cause resonates most with you? Determine which roles allow you to leverage your experience to create positive change. 2. Research aligned organizations: Look into both nonprofit and for-profit organizations (social startups). Find missions and impact efforts that align with your values. 3. Evaluate your skills: Reflect on your hard and soft skills. Identify any gaps and consider what skills you need to acquire or improve. 4. Expand your knowledge: Take courses to enhance your understanding and develop new skills in the social impact sector. 5. Gain experience: Volunteer or join a board to gain hands-on experience and apply your skills in a meaningful way. 6. Network! If you've been feeling the need for a change, transitioning to a career in social impact will be incredibly rewarding. 🟡 I promise. 🚨 Calling Founders-Ex-Founders considering a Career Transition! 🚨 After a nice summer break, I'm excited to announce our next Former Founders event, set for October 17th in Central London. Having walked my own entrepreneurial path and supported many founders within the ecosystem, it's evident that transitioning from founder to the next phase of a career isn't straight forward. Why? Job board algorithms often don’t favour this unique experience. Founders themselves may question the relevance of their skills, and some employers might hesitate to hire someone who’s previously been an owner. To help guide this conversation, we’re thrilled to be collaborating with an executive coach specialising in this very space. They’ll join me in leading the discussion (more details on them to come soon). We will be delving into the mindset shift, working on how to position their experience/achievements and open up the possibilities available to them. This will be our third event of its kind, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. These sessions have provided tremendous value to those navigating this transition. Creating a safe space and community to discuss these changes is crucial, which is why we’re so committed to continuing this initiative. If you’re a founder considering a career shift or have already made the leap and want to contribute to the conversation, please feel free to reach out!

🌟 As a first-generation #immigrant, the path I’ve walked hasn’t been easy. Moving to a new country, navigating an unfamiliar culture, and restarting my career has tested my limits more times than I can count. There were moments when I thought about giving up. But when I stop and look back at how far I’ve come, I realize something important: Every step, no matter how small, is progress. Starting over in a new place is incredibly hard—there are setbacks, self-doubt, and struggles you can’t always anticipate. But instead of focusing on how much is still ahead, I choose to celebrate the distance I’ve already covered. 💡 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫: Whether you’re starting a new career, adjusting to a new life, or overcoming challenges, don’t just focus on how far you have left to go. Take pride in how far you’ve already come. - ♻️ I am Monica, and I share my #career journey as a #firstgeneration immigrant. I offer tips on how to navigate the #jobsearch while maintaining well-being and a positive #mindset. - #career

𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥? Opportunity Seekers, when we experience separation, setbacks, and challenges in our lives, we face a crucial choice. We can either fight our way back by embracing our creativity and finding honorable ways to foster it, creating additional streams of income the honorable way, or we can choose a darker path. But we're professionals, Vanessa. How can we become criminal? Well, we become criminal by murdering something sacred: our integrity. We verbally assassinate our previous employer or whoever we blame for our situation, not realizing we may not know the full scope of their decision. By clinging to past grievances, we hinder our own progress. During my transition, I learned a valuable lesson. The more I fed my creativity, the more my soul expanded, welcoming more goodness, skills, and enlightenment. This growth enhanced my existing skills and made me more than I was before. 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐈 𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥: 𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠: Use this time to learn new skills or improve existing ones. Online courses, books, and webinars can be great resources. The more knowledge you gain, the more creative solutions you can find. 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞: Connect with others in your field or related industries. Networking can open doors to new opportunities and collaborations, fueling your creativity and growth. 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝: Maintain a positive mindset and focus on your goals. Avoid dwelling on past setbacks and instead, channel your energy into creating new opportunities. Remember, your attitude can determine your altitude. 𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐛𝐲 𝐋𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐨: Let go of any resentment or negative feelings towards those who may have caused your setbacks. Forgiveness allows you to move forward without the weight of past grievances holding you back. So, Opportunity Seekers, you have a choice during this transition. Will you become creative or criminal? Choose creativity and watch your world expand with new possibilities. #OpenToWork #OpportunitySeekers #CareerGrowth #ProfessionalDevelopment #StayPositive #KeepLearning #Networking #Forgiveness

TLDR: I started a business 🤍 (but actually, please read) 💫 The Butterfly Effect - Career Edition 💫 Layoffs affect everyone so differently - confusion, loss of identity, fear, freedom. My experience was mainly the latter. Freedom to explore not just what was next, but a time to explore how I defined career as a whole. After nearly 6 months of sitting, playing, creating - what I found was a door opening to something I had already been building for years, all without really knowing it. For the past decade(+), I've simultaneously been deeply focused on my own internal, spiritual work, while also working in tech - building out early career programs, growing and guiding global teams and opening doors for thousands of young folks just starting out. I couldn't see it then, but all of those experiences were setting the foundation for my greatest gig yet - KIN Coaching. KIN Coaching was born from of a desire to help women reimagine and redefine what career means to them, taking back their definition of success and building an aligned life. On purpose. KIN is a community for women who: 💫 feel unfulfilled in their current careers but need help in understanding why and what to do about it 💫 are ready to take the leap into something brand new but need guidance on what that even is 💫 know exactly what they want to do next but need support in finally making it happen 💫 have just been laid off but feel like this time is ripe with opportunity to alchemize a new path 💫 who just want more Often we as women don't ever feel fully qualified or even worthy to go after what we really want. We chase dreams that if we're honest - aren't truly ours. If the world is showing us anything right now, it's that this thought process HAS to change. We've all been given such individual gifts and the world is begging us to use them. If you're interested in joining our community and/or want to learn more about 1:1 coaching, message me directly. And in the next few days, stay tuned as I launch my signature 3 month program - Career Reimagined. Nothing feels better than pausing, listening to your call and acting on it. I'll stop at nothing to make sure as many women make this their reality as possible 💫 PS - for more of the juicy stuff, follow along on instagram - https://lnkd.in/gq9RdmJu #Coaching #PersonalGrowth #CareerTransition #AuthenticLiving #MindsetShift #Transformation #NewBeginnings #Empowerment #WomenEmpowerment

It's crazy to think we're already 3 months into 2024. It's also crazy to think there are still millions of people who are still jobless at the moment. But there's hope... Let me tell you why. I was laid off almost 2 years ago... confused and anxiously guessing what I should do next and upset that the company I dedicated so many hours would do this to me. Luckily, I had an awesome support group of friends and colleagues who knocked some sense in me and told me that everything was going to be okay, they offered referrals, gave me advice, and space to vent which was immensely helpful. After I came to my senses, I realized that I wasn't the only one affected. That others needed support and guidance too. After that realization, I chose to embark on the path of entrepreneurship. I wanted to create a safe place where people could connect, learn from others, get mentorship and support from a group of people who genuinely cared about the success and well-being of others. Since then, we've: -Helped inspire 74,000+ followers across Instagram, TikTok, YT, & LinkedIn. -Built a team of 20+ mentors ready to help out our job seekers -Helped over 100+ clients achieve success with their career We have a long way to go but with the right people, we'll know we'll make global impact. Job searching doesn't have to be a lonely process... Join the movement. Join MPH Tech Academy if you want to be a part of the solution. Link in comments ⤵ #mentorshipforall #career #careercoaching

An easy way to pick the wrong career is to put your image above your interests and identity. Many people prefer joining big IT companies over startups because of the status it brings in society. However, they may later realize that while it's good for their image, it might not align with their passion and learning goals. Despite this realization, they often continue due to societal expectations or financial reasons. The important thing to remember is that meaningful work isn't about impressing others; it's about doing something that resonates with your values and passions, even if it means choosing a path that's less conventional or prestigious in the eyes of society. The best way to grow in your career is to stick with a company for 2 years and then keep switching. When will we stop listening to one-sided career advice? ❌ ✅You can stay with a company for 30 years if it brings you peace of mind. ✅You can leave a company in a month if you feel there is no growth. ✅You can switch to working in a startup from a well-known company if you believe your talents can be utilized better there. ✅You can leave your job and start a new company if you have a vision. ✅You can switch your industry completely if you feel it's not meant for you. THERE ARE NO RULES. If it makes sense to you, it doesn't have to make sense to everyone! #linkedincreator #growth #careergrowth
