Gastel Peterson & Co. has successfully delivered the Purpose Builder Program (Pilot) at Kin Kora State School during 2024. With the purpose of building a Vision, and commitment towards their goals and aspirations, twenty (20) students have participated of this initiative. Each participating student wrote a Purpose Statement which contained holistic goals, dreams and aspirations of short, mid and long term nature. Then, students pitched back to their parents which is a clear example of reverse teaching. Students also identified their own superpowers to ensure their dreams come true. 100% of parents provided positive support towards their children goals and aspirations which is inspirational. 33% of students have indicated having experienced some level of improvement within maths, English and science. 23% of students indicated that they have allocated extra time to physical activities to keep themselves engaged. At a final graduation ceremony, 6 students rated the program as five stars while the remaining cohort of students labelled it as good. "Never give up on your dreams", "keep going regardless" and "be responsible, respectful and resilient" were some of the statements made by students at the final wrap-up session. Fantastic courses for Primary Education at ARU. My daughter has thoroughly enjoyed and successfully passed her first year. He touched on intentionality in both systems.I want to extend his point a bit. Every design of education has an intention. Before colonialism and till today apprenticeship and oral traditions were to replicate our skills and worldview in the next generation. When the missionaries arrived, education was to replicate their worldview and faith in us. As colonialism followed immediately after, education was to glorify “westerness” to us and devalue our form of education. Post colonialism, education was designed to instil nationalism. Today, I cannot tell you the purpose of the present design in Nigeria, but the results are: disunity, unemployability and brain drain to mention a few. What kind of education is your child getting?
