Always start and end with “why” It’s one of the core values at Roc Solid and also one of my favorite parts of every project we do. Before we start, we always go around and say our “why” for the day—why we are there. This is a game changer during especially difficult projects where it is super hot, rainy or when everything just seems to be going wrong. We end every project but going around and telling what our favorite parts of the day were. This is one of the most impactful moments for our team because we get to hear everyone’s perspectives on the day and we usually learn about special moments that happened that others didn’t even notice. Yesterday, I had the pleasure of co-leading a workshop with Mike Miriello for The Community Foundation of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County's Excellence in Nonprofit Leadership Program. This was a real treat as I have always loved working with Non-Profits because they typically struggle to find the time and resources needed to tell their stories effectively. We discussed the magic formula of stories, split into small groups to develop the key components of each groups, and discussed how it should/can be leveraged across platforms to make an impact.
