Thanks to Sandee Facy and the team at Hidden Disabilities Sunflower - Australia & New Zealand for helping us make A11y Camp a Sunflower friendly event! If you have not come across it before, the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is a subtle way to let others know that someone has a disability that may not be immediately visible. It is a globally recognised symbol. By wearing a sunflower lanyard, wristband or badge, people can signal that they may need a little more time, some extra assistance, or simply understanding without having to explain their condition. The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is a simple step toward inclusivity and awareness. It empowers people with non-visible disabilities—whether it's autism, ADHD, chronic pain, or mental health conditions—to navigate public spaces and services with greater ease. By recognising the sunflower symbol, we are reminded that not all disabilities are visible, and create a more inclusive, welcoming world for everyone. Learn more about the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower, and how you can be a sunflower friendly organisation or event: https://lnkd.in/g-b_SiKP https://lnkd.in/gD9UqKmg #A11yCamp2024

It’s Tuesday! I am back with another tip When traveling, inquire whether there is an onboard portable transport chair available for bathroom access. Be aware that most airplanes do not have washrooms large enough to accommodate this chair, which may prevent you from getting close enough to transfer. If you require this transport chair, please note that it might take some time for the staff to prepare it, so plan accordingly if you need to use the washroom. #AboveandBeyond #AnthonyFrisina #Speaker #Author #Consultant #Advocate #Inclusion #Disability #Equity #Accessibility #IDEA #TonysTips #TipTuesday #TonysTipTuesday #Education #Research #Listen #LivedExperiencesi #Conversation #Abilities #Support #InclusiveFromTheStart #NothingAboutUsWithoutUs
