This week is #NRW24, commemorating two significant milestones in Reconciliation, the 1967 Referendum and the High Court Mabo decision of 1992 that recognised the existence of Native Title. #NowMoreThanEver we all have an important role to play in reconciliation. We recognise the inequality and injustices to First Nations People and Communities that persist in this country today. The work on Reconciliation must continue, in treaty making, truth telling, understanding history, in education and in tackling racism. #NowMoreThanEver we need Reconciliation.

National Reconciliation Week’s theme for 2024, Now More Than Ever, is a reminder that in the wake of the referendum result, the fight for First Nations justice must – and will – continue. We are being asked to seriously commit to reconciliation and work together to confront the ongoing impacts of colonisation and racism that exists in our community and institutions. This week, and every week, ACOSS remains committed to working with the community sector to strengthen our solidarity and action in support of First Nations self-determination and sovereignty. First Nations peoples have always had a voice and the solutions for their communities. Now more than ever we must listen to them and back them in. Today marks the start of National Reconciliation week and the significance of two pivotal moments in Australia’s reconciliation journey - the 1967 Referendum and the High Court Mabo decision in 1992. We recognise the importance to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements as well as, building and nurturing work and community relationships that honour the histories and futures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Now More Than Ever we strive to keep reconciliation at the forefront of our minds, everyday. #LandSurveys #NRW2024 #NationalReconciliationWeek #reconciliation

This week is National Reconciliation Week. Reconciliation Week is framed by two significant milestones in our reconciliation journey—the successful 1967 Referendum on May 27 and the High Court Mabo decision on June 3. This week is a time for all Australians to reflect on our shared histories and relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation. The theme for this year is "Now More Than Ever," a reminder to all of us that the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people must continue no matter what. We must all show up, speak out, call out racism, amplify the voices of indigenous people, and invite people into the conversation. #NationalReconciliationWeek #NRW #NowMoreThanEver #ReconciliationWeek2024

The Uluru Statement from the Heart advocates for ‘Voice, Treaty, Truth’ to redefine the relationship between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous peoples. However, the recent referendum defeat exposed significant gaps in understanding, both of history and constitutional mechanisms. Professor Heidi Norman and Dr Anne Maree Payne’s new research shows us that truth-telling is more vital than ever on the path to recognition and reconciliation. 📰Read the full article from the latest edition of Reconciliation News: https://bit.ly/3RssfId #Reconciliation #NRW2024 #NowMoreThanEver #Truthtelling #ReconciliationNews

Today begins National Reconciliation Week. The theme is ‘Now More Than Ever’… a call to action to all Australians to support First Nations people by standing up for our rights, challenging racism and creating a future based on connection, respect, and positive change. In light of the vitriolic and blatant racism unleashed after the National Referendum, we ask our Allies to increase their commitment to ‘murrawarra’ (stand fast, stand one’s ground) shoulder-to-shoulder with us Now More than Ever. This week encourages us all to take meaningful action toward achieving reconciliation. The theme for 2024, Now More than Ever, serves as a powerful reminder that the fight for justice and the rights of First Nations peoples will - and must - continue unwaveringly. #ReconciliationWeek2024 #NRW2024

Was this year's Reconciliation Week quieter than usual or was it just me? I think reconciliation week was notably subdued, less events, less media coverage, and diminished public engagement. Did anyone else notice? The lack of vibrancy and enthusiasm was particularly challenging, given the significance of Reconciliation Week as a time to foster understanding between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians. Some people have speculated that the quietness of this year's events was connected to the recent failed Indigenous Voice to Parliament referendum? To me it is a salient reminder of the challenges faced on the path to reconciliation and the need for renewed commitment and dialogue moving forward. #NRW24 #ReconciliationWeek #QuietReconciliation #IndigenousVoice #LessEngagement #LessCoverage #LessEvents #ReflectAndRegroup #IndigenousRights #Unity #CommunityFatigue #RenewedCommitment #PathToReconciliation #HealingJourney #IndigenousRecognition #PublicDisillusionment #NeedForDialogue #SupportIndigenousVoices #ReconciliationJourney

This first National Reconciliation Week (NRW) since the Referendum has been poignant. The NRW theme is 'Now More Than Ever'. As we heard from Professor Deen Sanders OAM in our webinar about bringing humanity to service delivery today, it's really about reflection and taking responsibility to help build a better Australia. One way to do this is to relate what you are doing back to Country. When you're supporting someone with a service, focus on the relationship you are building and the Country you are on. #NRW2024 #NationalReconciliationWeek #NowMoreThanEver #reconciliation #RAP

Each year, National Reconciliation Week commences on 27 May: the anniversary of the 1967 referendum that brought recognition for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders into the Australian Constitution. This year, National Reconciliation Week provides a time to recommit to the unfinished business of reconciliation. This year’s theme is Now More Than Ever, a reminder that “no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will —and must —continue.” Bellberry recognises the ongoing work to support Indigenous peoples and communities in health and medical research and reaffirms our commitment to reconciliation. https://lnkd.in/d3hGDGY6 #NRW2024
