Burnout is a really lonely place! I went through both periods of Burnout on my own. I had family and friends of course, but nobody got it. Nobody understood it. And I couldn't find the words to describe it - not back then Burnout makes you feel like you've failed You shut down - your body and brain feel like they've run away and left you, in a heap You feel like you're the only one in the world going through what you're going through, and sharing it brings shame and a lot of guilt You can't believe how stupid you were to let yourself get to where you've gotten You wonder how many signs you ignored You feel isolated And you have no idea how you'll find a way through You can't find the words to describe it whilst you're in it. And unless you've been there, you don't get, and you don't understand it, which keeps Burnout being a lonely, and isolating, and confusing place. The Burnout Club and the Burnout Academy are what I'm creating to make Burnout feel less lonely. Less lonely for the people experiencing Burnout with the Burnout Club, and less lonely for those helping others navigate through it with the Burnout Academy Something magical happens when we increase our awareness of Burnout, understand what got us there, and know how to come through it. There's no magical cure, no magic wand, no overnight fix - but we can make Burnout a less lonely place to be. Because when we know better, we do better, for ourselves and everyone experiencing Burnout #Burnout #BurnoutAwareness

Have you ever felt like no matter how hard you work, you're just running on empty? In the hustle and bustle of a typical work environment and even stay-at-home jobs, burnout is an all-too-common experience. It is a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by prolonged and excessive stress. Burnout occurs when you feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, and unable to meet constant demands, leading to reduced performance and a sense of cynicism and detachment from your work and personal life. So sequel to my previous post, it's important to understand the components and stages of burnout in order to recognize and address this critical issue. Burnout comprises three main components: 🔸Exhaustion 🔸Cynicism 🔸Reduced efficacy. Exhaustion isn't just about feeling tired after a long day; it's that deep physical and emotional fatigue that doesn’t go away with rest. Where you feel drained and unable to cope with your workload. Cynicism often follows, leading to a sense of detachment. You may become increasingly negative, emotionally distant from your work and colleagues. Finally, burnout impacts your ability to perform effectively. Despite your best efforts, you might feel less competent and experience a decline in productivity and self-confidence. Similarly, burnout typically unfolds in three stages. It begins with exhaustion, where you feel overwhelmed and emotionally drained. Long hours and high demands start to take their toll, making stress feel unmanageable. The second stage is marked by cynicism and detachment. Here, you start distancing yourself emotionally from your work, and relationships with colleagues may suffer. A pervasive sense of negativity can set in, making it hard to stay engaged. In the final stage, reduced performance becomes evident. Concentration wanes, mistakes increase, and you may feel a profound sense of ineffectiveness and self-doubt. Ability to recognize these signs is the first step towards mental health and a healthier work environment. Look out for my next post where we’ll dive into actionable steps to address and manage burnout effectively. Did you get value? Kindly like, comment and share. 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗼𝘂𝘁: 𝟱 𝗧𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗢𝗸𝗮𝘆 𝗔𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻 Did you know 76% of employees experience burnout at least sometimes? (Gallup, 2020). Burnout is the emotional, physical, and psychological exhaustion from excessive stress. It's common but reversible with proper self-care. Here are five practical steps to recover from burnout: 1. Track Your Stress Levels Are you aware of when you're most stressed? Start a stress journal to document stressful events and their impact on you. Over time, you'll identify your triggers. 2. Uncover Your Stress Triggers Do you know what causes your stress? Reflect on your life before burnout. Recognise situations, people, or scenarios that trigger your anxiety and take steps to avoid them. 3. Seek Professional Help Have you considered talking to a professional? Burnout is treatable. A therapist can help you manage stress and recognise your triggers, guiding you towards recovery. 4. Adopt the Habit of Journaling Do you write down your thoughts and feelings? Journaling helps process your emotions and recognise patterns. This can work wonders for your recovery by helping you understand and change your responses to stress. 5. Make Exercise a Regular Part of Your Routine How often do you exercise? Ease into physical activity with a few minutes of walking or stretching. Gradually increase as you feel more empowered. Exercise can help you feel energised and relieve stress. Taking care of yourself will help you recover from burnout. If a career change isn't possible, seek support from a colleague or consider professional therapy to guide you through this tough period. Prioritising self-care can help you reclaim your energy and joy. #BurnoutRecovery #WorkLifeBalance #MentalHealth #StressManagement #ProfessionalWellbeing #CareerGrowth #SelfCare #EmployeeWellbeing #TherapyWorks #OfficeHealth #JobStress #Mindfulness #ProductivityTips #CareerAdvice #HealthyWorkEnvironment
