I research, teach, strategize & help to create successful businesses. I communicate through my novel "Becoming Somebody" & "Customer Experience Management in the Caribbean Concepts, Case Studies and Challenges"
Reggae has different genres and I just realized that this is dancehall week of #Reggaemonth. The arguments about which is better are endless in Jamaica but they each have their audiences. I did a little googling and found this distinction from Prezi - "Dancehall music is more secular, vulgar, and artistes get to express their various forms of creations (slangs, dance, fashion trends, etc...). Reggae music is a more conscious approach for voicing one's opinion and to rebel to whatever it is that the artist finds unjust."
With all due respect to the source, these are fighting words! Dancehall is vulgar but reggae is conscious? And reggae isn't secular? But this is the challenge in our societies and organisations - we view things so differently and we label them very differently because of our biases. When you have so many different generations in the workplace this can lead to misunderstandings, broken communication and conflict. Sadly rather than listening to each other's music/opinions/perspectives, we sit and judge.
In workplaces we are going to have different views and rather than building walls can we build bridges? Can we ask people to explain what they find appealing about their choices and at least listen and look and can we return the favour. Folks - time to start talking TO each other instead of ABOUT each other. In the end everyone is just expressing what they feel and don't we care about that?

Can You Really Make a Living as a Busker/Street Musician?
Busking is the art of performing music, magic, dance or other acts in public spaces with the aim of collecting voluntary donations. Unlike formal concerts or club shows, busking takes place directly on the streets, allowing artists to connect with audiences on a deeply personal level.
The Origins of Busking
The term busking traces back to the Spanish word 𝒃𝒖𝒔𝒄𝒂𝒓, meaning "to seek" or "to look for." Historically, entertainers would take to the streets in search of donations & busking became the accepted English term for this practice. Public performance has deep cultural roots, from ancient Rome.
This rich history highlights busking’s role as one of the earliest entrepreneurial paths for artists, blending talent & direct #customer engagement.
Busking vs. Street Musician
A street musician specifically performs music, often specializing in instruments or vocals.
Buskers, on the other hand, encompass a broader range of acts, including theater, puppetry, etc.
Can You Make a Living from Busking?
With the digital era, busking has evolved. Not only do buskers earn tips from passersby but platforms like YouTube have opened doors to global audiences.
Successful buskers can supplement their street earnings with online ad revenue, sponsorships & even music #sales. For talented performers with strong engagement skills, #busking can be more than a side hustle, it can be a career.
It teaches fundamental #entrepreneurship skills, from attracting an audience to building rapport & even mastering the art of “closing the sale” in the form of tips.
Dovydas: From Street to Screen
One of today’s most well-known modern buskers is Dovydas, a multi-talented musician originally from Lithuania who now performs in USA. Known for his improvisational skills, live looping & multi-instrumental talents, Dovydas creates engaging performances by layering guitar, bass & percussion sounds, often as a one-man band.
His engaging personality & incredible technical skill have made him a #YouTube sensation, gaining a fanbase far beyond the street. His unique style, which merges rock, blues, jazz & more, has led to estimates of his net worth around $1 million, though this varies with his online reach & performance activities.
Buskers are experts at audience #engagement, resilience & creativity under pressure. They embody entrepreneurial spirit, understanding that every passerby is a potential “client.” Whether busking is a stepping stone or a main stage, it showcases how talent, grit & audience connection can translate into a successful #career.

Musicians, have you been planning to rebrand or potentially switch up your artist name on DSPs? Here’s a step by step guide to get sorted through Musible ✍️
Balancing work and personal life is super important for feeling good and getting things done. During the week, I focus on work stuff and get it done. But on weekends, I take time for myself to relax and do things I enjoy. Music is my favorite way to unwind—it makes me feel happy and calm. Listening to music helps me recharge and feel better. When I'm happy and relaxed, I do my job better. So, I make sure to take breaks and do things I love, like listening to music. It's not just about work; it's about feeling good and doing my best in everything I do.
