Finn has been a loyal companion in the Worksop office this year, reminding us to enjoy the little moments 🐾 A reminder that we remain open on the working days over the Christmas season, though with a smaller team. Stop calling your Company "a Family". Parents don't fire their children for poor performance, or lay them off to cut household costs when they're struggling to food put on the table. Focus on being a team, built on trust and respect, where every person feels valued . Ultimately, your company isn't defined by your words, but by your actions.#Company always company not "Family".

Enjoying work is essential for both productivity and well-being. When people have fun at work, they’re more engaged, motivated, and often perform at a higher level. A positive work environment encourages creativity, reduces stress, and fosters stronger connections among team members, which can enhance collaboration and trust. Fun at work doesn’t necessarily mean having constant entertainment but includes moments of enjoyment, laughter, and a sense of accomplishment that make work more fulfilling. Employees who feel happy and appreciated tend to have higher job satisfaction and are more likely to stay with the company, reducing turnover rates.

Family culture can blur the lines, leading to favoritism, conflicts, and promotions based on personal relationships rather than performance. Say NO to family culture and YES to TEAM culture.

Managers should foster this within the teams as they are the 'Pillars' who have the power to shape success or failure of their team members. They must earn & built trust , identity their strengths/ weakness, groom them & ensure everyone feels valued... Therefore, ensuring the 'Pillars' are capable & posses strong aptitude & attitude values. Stop calling your employees a family! Families don’t let people go. Families don’t get paid to perform. Families don’t track performance. And you sure as hell don’t leave your family to go join another. You are a TEAM. Trying to achieve goals together. One where everyone has to pull their weight. So employers, stop the “We’re a family” BS. Be authentic. You’re a team.

This. Usually, 'family' refers to one of two situations in an organization: 1. Leaders aren't getting their family needs met outside of work, and so conscript their employees. 2. Leaders are narcissists who derive their value from the number of sycophants they have around them. These reasons also apply to the Return To Office (#RTO) mania that we see emerging.

Loyalty is built by how you respect employees’ time, empower their growth, and eliminate unnecessary, mundane work. When businesses invest in systems that cut the busywork, they’re making a clear statement: "We value your time and your potential!" True loyalty comes from more than compensation - it’s about giving work meaning and building trust through thoughtful tools and processes. What’s your ‘loyalty algorithm’? How do you weigh purpose, perks, autonomy, and recognition in building a truly engaged team?
