🎓 Impact Award winner Katie Stains pursued her passion in the graphic information technology program. She gained hands-on experience as part of the GIT Creative Agency, where she served as a designer and creative director for impactful projects, including a hackathon sponsored by the CIA. Seeing the impact of her work in real-life scenarios was a highlight of Katie's educational journey. She credits Assistant Teaching Professor Kassidy Breaux for encouraging her to step outside her comfort zone. Katie hopes to become a project manager or creative director in the future. 🎉Congratulations Katie! #ASUEngineering #ASUGrad https://lnkd.in/getbiNU3

I still remember the first video I recorded. I was still in the university with lots of projects to attend to, but I made sure I recorded at least a video every week to share with my audience_It was called #Creative Wednesday." Guess what I talked about in my first ever video??? "How to build your self-confidence!" And me? Just watch the video 😂😂 Heck! I was afraid, scared, trembling and shaking in front of the camera. 📍Did I record the video? Yes! 📍Did I post it? Hell yes! 📍Did I stop there? No! 📍Did I get better? Of course! Way better than I had ever imagined. ~I didn't have any cameras or microphone. I had all the excuses in the world to stop me. ~I had lectures to attend and assignments to work on. ~I didn't have the right equipment (no proper lighting, access to a good recording space etc). ~It wasn't just time. But I started anyways - with what I had and I got better. Now, I'm waaaay better than what I could ever think of. I'm damn goooood! Am I gon' stop here? No way! "Better" is the goal! Just start! There's no perfect or right time other than now. You'll get better. You'll learn on the journey. Life's a journey anyways, and learning is a process, so, just start! Now! Here's to getting better! 🥂❤️ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- What one thing did you do afraid while starting out? Got value from this? Repost so others can grow. Let's connect! ©Gloria Oga -The Queen of Stories (The QOS). #tbt #contentcreators #thursday

Making language clearer and more reader focused? Yes, please! Over the past two years I have had the privilege of help organise hackathons and love the thrill, the energy, creativity, and problem solving that comes from people coming together to tackle a challenge. So you can imagine my excitement when I came across this article in the latest Style Manual newsletter, the GovHack PLaiN Language Challenge. It blends the two of my fav things: clear, accessible communication and the fast-paced innovation of hackathons. It’s a fantastic reminder that clear language isn’t just nice to have, it’s essential for inclusivity, accessibility and impact. If you love language, design or problem-solving, I highly recommend checking the newsletter the link to the highlights of the challenge out. https://lnkd.in/gF7B7Bhx

With great excitement, I reflect on my 3-year journey of problem-solving. When I started, I never had any big, far-sighted goals. Instead, I only had a small goal every day: to be better than yesterday. Actually, I never really tried to become a Knight initially, which is why I didn't have any specific plan. In the beginning, progress was barely noticeable. The first week brought negligible improvement, and even after a month, changes were hard to spot. But as months turned into years, the growth became apparent. But at the beginning of my third year, I set a specific goal: to reach Knight on LeetCode before my fourth year. I began participating in contests regularly, pushing myself with each challenge. The journey wasn't always smooth. There were times when I felt hopeless and lost. But I persevered, and now, at the end of my third year, I've achieved the Knight badge on LeetCode. Looking back, I'm amazed at how problems that once seemed difficult now feel straightforward. It's been a journey filled with challenges. I love the feeling of satisfaction when I piece together the final part of a problem, code it, submit my program, and see the green 'Accepted' status after hours of hard work. During contests, I love the rush of adrenaline as I race against time to innovate solutions for the problems presented to me. For me, achieving that tiny green status ignites exhilaration similar to what athletes and their fans would experience after scoring a goal. To anyone on a similar path: trust the process. One day, you'll be proud of how far you've come. Remember, small daily improvements add up to remarkable results over time. #datastructures #algorithms #problemsolving #competitiveprogramming

TJSDay66- Contest Chair Part 2 🌟 In the first series, we introduced the role of the contest chair and a checklist of things to be done before the contest. This second part of the Contest chair role is Co-ordinating the contest. During the Contest: Execution Matters 🌟 Be the Host and Lead the Contest As the Contest Chair, you are essentially the face of the event. On the day of the contest, your role is to keep things running smoothly and ensure that everything follows the rules set out in the rule book. Be prepared to lead the event from start to finish, keeping things on time, introducing the contestants, and ensuring the flow of the contest is uninterrupted. Brief Contestants Again on Rules Before the contest begins, briefly remind contestants of the rules — timing, disqualification criteria, and the judging process. This not only helps them feel more at ease but also ensures there are no misunderstandings. I remember how, as Contest Chair for the Tall Tales and Evaluation contest, I reassured nervous contestants that everything would go according to plan, even during our virtual event. A quick run-through of the rules provided much-needed clarity and comfort. Advice as YOU plan your Admitted Student events - Less telling and more showing. Focus on creating fun, immersive activities as well as opportunities for engagement and connections between your admitted (but undecided) students and your committed students, as well as your current students. Also, incorporating the current student point of view in your content - particularly the first year student POV - is absolutely essential. Finally, be sure to have at least one separate session for parents/guardians. #highered #higheredleadership #emchat #higheredmarketing

Hey Connections.... 🙌 🌟 Excited to share a recent milestone in my learning journey.! 💻 Sharpening My Skills at the Hackathon Practice Event! I recently attended a online coding practice hackathon which was conducted by 𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗜𝗗𝗘 𝗠𝗔𝗖𝗘 in collaboration with 𝗜𝗘𝗘𝗘𝗫𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗘 𝟭𝟴.𝟬 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟭𝟬 as a precursor to the main hackathon #ieeextreme18. It was a day full of learning, collaboration, and innovative problem-solving. This experience taught me so much beyond just coding :- 1️⃣ Time Management: Working under tight deadlines helped me optimize how I approach problems and allocate resources efficiently. 2️⃣ Collaboration: Whether brainstorming ideas or troubleshooting, teamwork played a crucial role in achieving success. 3️⃣ Rapid Prototyping: Learned how to translate an idea very quickly into a working model, finding a balance between creativity and practicality. 4️⃣ Problem-solving under Pressure: Tackling real-time challenges improved my analytical and debugging skills. This event has reaffirmed my interest in coding and will always make me more enthusiastic for the main hackathon. Big thanks🙌 to the organizers and participants for such an enriching experience! Looking forward to building on this momentum and applying these lessons to future projects. 🚀 Last but not the least a big shoutout to my team members Mahadesh Sawale and Mallikarjun Biradar for being such a great support. #HackathonPractice #Coding #LearningJourney #Teamwork #Hackathon #Collaboration #ProblemSolving

Finally, My Project is Live! 🚀 During my 7th semester, I faced an issue while converting my CGPA to a percentage. Despite searching online, I found some websites either lacked flexibility. Frustrated, I decided to solve this problem myself. This project was a journey of tackling a real-world issue, and it sparked a deep passion for learning within me. Here's the full story behind why I chose this project and how I brought it to life.😊 Check it out [https://lnkd.in/dAWeTJ3S] ***For the Best Experience: Try opening the project on a desktop for a more enhanced user interface! 😎
