#Parentalalienation has been a challenging issue for women leaving abuse for many decades, with claims of it increasing in recent years. We believe that a nuanced approach that includes judicial education as well as a stepped approach when a party in a family court proceeding wants to raise the issue of parental alienation is needed. Coupled with high-quality IPV education for judges and others in the family court system, this approach could work well to ensure that courts respond appropriately, leading to better outcomes for IPV survivors and their children. I am spearheading a movement to bring people together, for the purpose of drafting legislative bills that support 2nd Chances for youthful offenders! I think we, the people who are justice impacted can assist our law makers by providing them them stories of human beings who are collateral damage of excessive sentencing laws. How do we do this? First, we mobilize (bring other people in the same situation together). Second, we message (craft a slogan and communicate why the bill is good for public safety as well as fiscal responsibility). And third, we monetize (we attract sponsors and benefactors who believe in our ideas). We will demonstrate why our bills have no political objective or lean towards and political party….it is just good for the State’s as a whole. Children should not spend the rest of their lives in prison, or serve 40 and 50 years!
