TFP recently had Josie Campbell join our team as part of the ‘Women in Trade’ school initiative. She spent 2 weeks working on multiple sites with us, getting exposure to the types of work sprinkler fitters are involved in. We thoroughly enjoyed having Josie on board and encourage anyone in the industry to participate in this incentive.

A gap has opened in our community, both in DEI learning and — especially in these challenging times — in coming together for mutual support. Steven Humerickhouse, former Executive Director of The Forum on Workplace Inclusion®, is supporting The Winters Group in filling that gap with the Racial Justice at Work Summit: Justice for All: https://ow.ly/XUwL50QQklw This event, April 23-25, features 9 keynote speakers, 60+ sessions, 10+ panels, deep dive workshops, performances from artists, and more all focused on how we can move DEIJ work forward in these turbulent times. If you are concerned about the state of DEIJ in our businesses, higher education, governments, and nonprofits, and want to understand how better to confront the challenges facing our vital work, then the summit is not to be missed: https://ow.ly/XUwL50QQklw #RacialJusticeAtWork #JusticeForAll #RacialJustice #DiversityAndInclusion

Please support me to Race the Dark! I'm daring to race the setting sun and help light the way to a safer world for women. As you know I'm leaving White Ribbon UK in January 2025 after nearly 7 years as its CEO. Before I leave. I'm taking on the big challenge of White Ribbon UK Race the Dark to make every step count for women's safety. On one of the shortest days of the year I'll leave Leeds Railway Station at dawn, dashing along the towpath of the Leeds Liverpool Canal to Saltaire and racing back hoping to make it to Leeds Railway Station before it gets dark. It's' about a marathon distance. I'm taking on this challenge: - For Women’s Safety: Women face unique challenges when it comes to their safety. - For Allyship: Race the Dark isn’t just about completing a challenge—it’s about reflecting on how we can all be better allies, encouraging conversations around respect, understanding, and standing up against harassment. - For Awareness Raising: Directly contributing to White Ribbon UK’s work, advocating for safer environments, enabling people and especially men to learn about allyship, and creating resources for use in schools, workplaces and other settings. https://lnkd.in/eihx27GC

As part of DCS’s acknowledgement of White Ribbon Day, a panel discussion was hosted focusing on domestic and family violence prevention in the Central Office on Monday 25 November. The event was introduced by Bill Kelsey and hosted by DCS Principal Advisor Women, Kate Holland, and featured the following panellists: - Vicki Hutchinson, Team Leader Victim Support Services, overseeing Keeping Victims Informed Program - Kathrine Cock, Director of Services, Women’s Safety Services - Sgt Alicia Green, Family & Domestic Violence Unit, SAPOL The panellists discussed how we can all make a difference, whether big or small, through the actions we take every day in response to domestic violence; how education can begin with children and young people and to ensure we are all here to help those we may know impacted by domestic violence. This year’s theme is Be the Solution and was developed by members of the Workplace Equality and Respect Working Group. It acknowledges everyone, especially men, has a role to play in creating a culture that does not tolerate violence or disrespect, and reflects the ongoing focus of the Workplace Equality and Respect program on peer support, being an active bystander, and showing visible leadership in ending domestic and family violence.

The Folke Institute Supports Unity and Equality Today, on the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, The Folke Institute is proud to unite with the global community in promoting diversity, inclusivity, and respect for all. 🤝✊ Why March 21st? March 21st marks a day of remembrance for the Sharpeville Massacre in 1960. We use this day to reaffirm our commitment to promoting unity, understanding, and respect among all races and ethnicities. Building Bridges: In a world where divisions persist, let's build bridges of understanding and compassion. Spread peace, not hatred. Engage in open conversations that challenge stereotypes and promote mutual respect. Together, we can break down the barriers of prejudice. Celebrating Diversity: Diversity is our strength! Today and every day, let's celebrate the richness that different cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives bring to our global community. By embracing diversity, we create a tapestry of unity that makes us stronger. Join the Movement: The Folke Institute invites you to join us in advocating for racial equality and inclusivity. Share this message, start meaningful dialogues, and contribute through actions, no matter the size, to foster a community of inclusivity and equality. Every voice counts, and together, we can enact real change. Let's unite for a world marked by fairness, respect, and dignity for all, transcending race or ethnicity. Help us cultivate a future where harmony and understanding thrive. #UnityOverDivision #InclusionForAll #DiversityStrengthens #GlobalSolidarityDay

Fridays are typically a time for reflection, planning, and rejuvenation. However, the events of this week have profoundly impacted us all. Rather than focusing on future endeavours, our attention has been drawn to the deeply troubling scenes of racism and terror instilling events that have unfolded. As an organisation, we celebrate diversity, we travel across the UK dedicated to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion, we are appalled by the events of this week. Our work involves challenging harmful language and behaviours that are often dismissed. What we’ve witnessed is a stark reminder that these words and actions have real-world consequences. Despite the darkness, the outpouring of support from anti-racism protesters is a beacon of hope. Their courage and resilience inspire us to redouble our efforts. We are committed to creating a more just and equitable society. This means examining our own role in promoting inclusivity, challenging harmful narratives, and amplifying marginalised voices. We stand together with those affected by the riots.

This is a must-read for anyone looking to make sense of the DEI rollbacks. I also found this quote from Donnebra McClendon relevant: "What happens after we’ve done all of those things and we’re still not necessarily seeing the monumental changes that we’re looking for at an organization?” My answer is - we keep going until we do see them. Yes, DEI rollbacks are concerning. I prefer to think of this climate as the time to get creative and think differently about how we achieve these goals. #designforequality #humancentereddesign #designthinkingforDEIB
“The idea that DEI initiatives are racist, they’re quotas or they’re lowering standards is a fundamental misunderstanding of what DEI programs actually are. I might go so far as to say an intentional misrepresentation.” – Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer Jennifer Marie Martinez dispelled some misconceptions about DEI initiatives in a recent HR Dive article. Read it here to get expert takes on the future of DEI: https://lnkd.in/gfTQWYYQ #HansonBridgett #DEI #DiversityInLaw
