We love that we get to be a partner with Apprenticeship 2.0. The latest episode offers some history on apprenticeship at the federal level and brings the conversation to teacher apprenticeship in Colorado. "In the second of Apprenticeship 2.0’s two-part series on institutions of higher education and apprenticeship degrees, Joe and Liz chat with Dr. Pam Eddinger, President of Bunker Hill Community College in Massachusetts, and Dr. Liz Qualman, Director of Teacher Education at Colorado Mountain College. Together, they discuss the U.S. Department of Labor’s Advisory Committee for Apprenticeship, how that committee is addressing needs to advance registered apprenticeships, how teacher apprenticeship programs are weaving social justice into the teaching fabric, how apprenticeship programs can serve as a key solution to the teacher shortage, and much more." Reassuring to see Kaplan UK's very own Jenny Pelling at the forefront of the mission to keep L7 apprenticeship funding accessible for all people and businesses. You can read our impact report on Level 7 accounting apprenticeships by clicking below: https://lnkd.in/e-iHd-Eh The report demonstrates the unintended consequences should the L7 funding be removed and the impact it will have on both learners and the businesses that support them.
Refreshing to have time in Westminster yesterday with an MP who understands the benefit of all level apprenticeships for young people and businesses. Thank you Blake Stephenson MP for an excellent meeting where we discussed: - the Kaplan UK impact report on Level 7 accounting apprenticeships - how frustrating it is that Government is eager to cut the funding of Level 7 apprenticeships even when they align to the Government's own Industrial Strategy growth areas of professional and financial services and the skills employers need - the difference Level 7 apprenticeships make to social mobility. Looking forward to continuing our conversation on 10 February during National Apprenticeship Week #NAW2025

The importance of accessible education in shaping future accountants cannot be overstated. Let's hope that the Level 7 Apprenticeship Funding isn't removed. The scheme has funded up to 100% of the cost of the Apprenticeship, allowing thousands of young people to achieve their dreams of becoming fully qualified accountants under the ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, or CTA professional bodies. If this is removed, it could once again restrict careers in accountancy to those who can afford to attend university. Let's continue to support diverse pathways into accountancy for all aspiring professionals and hope that it is still here in September 🤞 #Apprenticeships #ACCA #ICAEW #CIMA #CTA #SocialMobility #Accountancy

For those in the apprenticeship space, the new rules for apprenticeship proposed by the Department of Labor have been withdrawn.
Expanding apprenticeship in America to widen pathways to opportunity and grow a competitive workforce.
For those tracking such things, the new rules for apprenticeship proposed by the Department of Labor have been formally withdrawn. Apprenticeships for America analyzed this wide-ranging set of proposals that would have reshaped the practice of apprenticeship in the United States. While we were sympathetic to the aims of many of the proposals, we found the actual rules left a lot of room for improvement. Last week, we learned that the proposed rules have been withdrawn. That's one less thing to think about at the end of the year!

The Prime Minister recently announced a major overhaul of the apprenticeship system in England, introducing a new growth and skills levy that will replace the existing levy. Key changes include funding for shorter, flexible apprenticeships and a focus on foundational apprenticeships to meet critical industry demands, making it easier for young people to gain essential skills. As more updates emerge from Skills England and the Department for Education, we’ll be available to help clients fully understand and leverage these opportunities.
