One of the biggest fears people hiring in the music industry have is somebody leaving their job quickly after being hired. People often then a job in the music industry is going to be one thing, but then they realize it’s different than the fantasy they built up in their head. This is why it’s so important to convey on your resume that you know what you’re getting yourself into, and that you’re in it for the long haul! If you can make whoever is hiring you feel SAFE with not only your words, but with your actual experience, this is going to increase your chances of landing that role.

🎤 Recruiting: The Ultimate Talent Show! 🎤 As a recruiter, I often think about my early days booking bands and managing artists. Turns out, the two roles have more in common than you'd expect! 🎶 Just like booking gigs, placing candidates requires finding the right “fit”—balancing client needs with the candidate’s unique skills, personality, and style. Some roles? They’re the headliners that clients need urgently. Others? They’re the opening acts that require nurturing and guidance, much like working with up-and-coming artists. Both sides—clients and candidates—sometimes need a bit of hand-holding to hit the right notes. From the high-energy excitement of a great placement to the occasional missed cue, I’m here to make sure everything runs as smoothly as a well-orchestrated show. Because in recruiting, just like in music, it’s all about creating the perfect harmony. 🎶🎤 #Recruiting #TalentManagement #EventProducerLife #PlacementHarmony

What advice would you give to entertainment and Arts industry professionals in their early careers who also feel in-between about fitting their interests with their qualifications? . @stagelync writer, musician, and producer, Megan Gill asked, and OISTAT’s (The International Organisation of Scenographers, Theatre Architects and Technicians) Youngest Executive Director, Wan-Jung Wei, answered. . It's tough trying to pursue multiple areas of work and fulfillment, especially when everyone around you seems to say "just pick one." Luckily, there are those like Wei who defy the odds, find their tribe, and prove they can do it anyway! . "What do you do outside of work?" is a question I ask many of my candidates. I want to know their hobbies and interests as work is only one part of their lives. This allows me to better understand them as a person. Outside of work I read (a lot!), journal, craft, play games with friends and family, and I try to attend as many comedy shows and theatre productions as I can. We are more than our jobs. #BeaumontPeople #Communication #CandidateCare #Recruitment #TemporaryRecruitment #MelbourneRecruitment

Do you have a high capacity for boring? I certainly don't. When I was younger, I always had multiple part time jobs. I just couldn't bear the idea of going to the same office every single day, working with people who didn't understand my creative persona, and After I was laid off from the one full-time day job I've ever had, I recommitted to being an actor, and for the next eight years, I juggled about five or six different part time jobs at a time (marketing and admin for a small theater company, singing telegramist, fit model for Target corporate, Standardized Patient for the University of Minnesota Medical School, palm reader for high school graduation parties, restaurant work, costumed character at the mall, and being an actor in plays and commercials). My schedule was all over the place. I often would be at rehearsal until 11pm, get home around midnight, and then have to be at the Medical School by 8am to do simulations, and then I might get a couple of hours to sleep in my car before rehearsal, or I might have to go to my other job for a few hours. I eventually decided it was too hard to keep up that sort of schedule, and I chose being a server as my one support job while I transitioned to doing voiceover full time. If I had to choose, I'd still choose juggling all of those to working in one single job that was boring but more stable. What about you? Does passion exhaust you more than boredom? #mondaymotivation #passion #boredom #inspirationalquote
