Some men want to take over the world. Others want to cheat on or hurt women. A few want to be the center of attention. - I just wanna solve chess puzzles, be left alone and take my Granny with me to chess tournaments before she gets too old to enjoy/understand them. Haven't slept in 2 years and I'm moving to a quieter place next week. I'm gonna be off to the chess races like early teen Magnus when things really started to click for him! Can one who never touched chess until adulthood become a GM? I won't say "Yes". I will say it is impossible to say "No". For several reasons: 1) The internet is not that old. Chess engines haven't been elite for that long. - That's a whole world of information that previous generations didn't have access to, or didn't know how to apply the knowledge effectively and consistently. I worked in tech for 4 years and made most of my dumb, time wasting mistakes when it comes to learning. 2) Grown ups who have taken chess seriously after not playing as kids have careers and families. Doesn't count. Not a fair study because of too many variables. I certainly agree had I started at age 10 my potential would be greater. But I could become at least a Master and more likely an IM. That would be more than enough to prove to the world it is possible and set the stage for someone else who never played until adulthood to become a GM. #LateBloomingChessProdigy #InfluencingStuff https://lnkd.in/gVvNSytw
