Why do so many executives fail? Published 26 years ago, Patrick Lencioni's first book uncovers temptations and distractions that are still relevant today. 1️⃣ Check out The Five Temptations of a CEO summary below. 2️⃣ Reflect on the model and acknowledge which resonates. If you’re stuck, you can ask the people around you and compare notes. 3️⃣ Listen to Pat & the team talk about the book on ATT podcast ep 198: https://lnkd.in/dH8ydE9b Every leader should understand what temptation they are prone to and what to do about it!
These temptations are very recognizable when I coach business owners but also leaders on all levels. Especially when it comes to popularity and harmony.
I found this to be so helpful when coaching leaders. Patrick Lencioni's 5 Temptations of a CEO takes 5 Dysfunctions of a Team and applies it to the leader specifically: "This is what YOU are doing to encourage this dysfunction on your team." Great for accountability!
Patrick Lencioni this breakdown post makes 5 Temptations appear like "The Screwtape Letters" adaptation of 5 Dysfunctions/The Advantage. Thoughts?
Great One- Pager for keeping things real!
Very helpful
Insightful!

3moPatrick Lencioni’s insights into the temptations of leadership are just as relevant today, especially for military leaders who face constant pressure. In my experience as a senior military trainer and advisor, I’ve seen how leadership is tested not only by external challenges but also by internal temptations like the need for status or the avoidance of accountability. Recognizing these weaknesses and addressing them head-on is vital for effective leadership. As General George S. Patton said, “A good plan violently executed now is better than a perfect plan next week.” Swift, decisive action matters.
