How important do feel it is to have experience in the trades that you inspect? my number one priority is to be able to find solutions on the job site to keep the project moving. For example I had 24yrs in the construction industry before becoming an inspector. should all inspector be required to have a minimum amount of experience before qualifying for there job? Or is passing a test just as important?

What is the most important skill for a construction inspector to have and why? ✏️ I believe the most important skill is the ability to partner with the construction team from design team, the client, the contractors, the individual trades, the QA/QC Team, etc... At the end of the day, we all want the same thing and a construction team that has partnered isn’t going to focus on where fault for errors and mistakes happen. That inevitably happens. Rather the partnered construction team is focused on solutions and solving problems that inevitably arise. This is when you know the absolute best product is delivered to the client. Not to mention the benefits that all involved enjoy from a job well done and the reputation everyone gains. You can’t put a price on quality and integrity.

HSE • All work to be carried out in line with H&W Safe Operating Procedures and Risk Assessments. • Proactive identification and recording of any workplace risks for rectification. • Ensure appropriate PPE is worn in site areas where any construction/fabrication or related activities are taking place. • Reporting of all Incidents, Accidents or Asset Damage. Qualifications / Experience Demonstrated experience in a similar role. • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications. • Ability to use measuring devices for example verniers and micrometers. High level communication skills (written and oral) and computer literacy.
